Just getting my fitness up slowly after a longish time off the bike regularly. Need a route in the Peaks without loads of ups and downs. What have you..?
Park at Fairholmes and ride round Ladybower? Or there are the Monsal, High Peak and Tissington Trails. All about as flat as you can get.
What about a lap of Ladybower?
Start at Fairholmes car park and do the NW side of Derwent and back down the other side. If you're feeling up to it you can carry on past the dam all the way to the A57 and back up the other side of Ladybower to Fairholmes. No major hills, not technical (at all) but a very nice ride in the country side.
Or, further south:
Tissington, High Peak, Monsal, Sett Valley etc railway routes.
Bugger! Beat me by seconds. I ought to type faster ๐ณ
Well.. that depends on what you think a lot of ups and downs means... :o)
Most of the routes, even the shorter ones require a few hundred metres of climbing to get in a reasonably fun loop. However, have a look at V-Graphics Cycling in the Peak District book, it's got some good shorter routes in, although they, for the most part, aren't very technical.
I don't mind some climbing but I don't want to spend 6 hours going up or down. Ideally I'd like to ascent then keep the altitude for a bit. I'd quite like to be on the hills rather than at the bottom of them. Or am I asking too much?
