Local club funds are short.....again.

We've just taken on a new kit sponsor which will help, however I have been tasked with arranging a 'club event dinner' with a guest speaker.

Does anyone know of, or can recommend a cycling related (Ideally MTB - If there is such a thing) after dinner speaker ?

Been on a few event websites and some of these guys are wanting between £1k - £3k to speak for an hour - Certainly nice work if you can get it !

Any suggestions appreciated - Other than "I'll do it for £500.00" 😉

Cheers 😀

I'm sure David Duffield must be a bit cheaper now that he's retired mostly from commentating?

T'othern one might be Tim Moore, wrote Cycling Revolutions (about following the Tour de France route), alongside other travel type books. Books are certainly funny, don't know what he is like as a speaker though.

find a cyclist promoting an autobiography or trying to get PR for a team? perhaps more inclined to do a better rate for speaking?

I imagine Chipps would be an excellent speaker. If you were to organise a day's local riding, trailbuilding or skills instruction that would combine into a magazine article, you might be able to persuade him.

Other than that, try somebody who runs a guiding or skills company. They'll have lots of fun tales, plus a reason to want to build a brand loyalty.
