I bought a Kurt Kinetic, really sturdy, good fluid resistance unit.

Probably not what you initially are thinking of but have you considered a spinning bike.

I have a Schwinn IC Elite spinning bike at home. Very solid, totally quiet unlike Turbos, so you can really get a good workout. It might be worth trawling e-bay for a second hand one. New they are about £750 but you may find a used bargain. They are "industrial quality". All I did to mine was upgrade the pedals.

I can't remember! Its got a bar mounted resistance adjuster, not even sure if its magnetic or fluid, sorry. Its really quiet though. Currently lives in the back of our boiler cupboard.

I'm in Chester so am guessing the postage would be a fair bit.
