[#2713592]

Needs to be decent site with good showers walking distance to a pub that does good food & real ale & not too far from bike trails. Osmotherly area or Helmsley preferred as we'll be coming from Lancashire direction & don't want to drive all the way to East coast. So far I've noted Golden Square C&C site and Cote Ghyll C&C site, 15 & 20 pounds per night per tent respectively, which seems a tad on the steep side to me. However if they are worth it then fair enough.

Any other recommendations or experience of these?

+1 for Spires House - we are there again first week in August, so avoid then unless you like rain......

Darned sure it isn't 5 miles to the Cropton pub/brewery though. Probably a wobble on a bike rather than a stagger on foot, I'll admit that.

They've now got beer pumps in the bike shed at Spiers House campsite and are selling beer from the Cropton brewery. It made the rain more bearable over the weekend.............
