i think it is because the rules are not always clear.....

How I see it is if you "cross the line"...

usually polite contributor = warning e-mail/short ban
repeat offender/big hitter = longer ban
RO/BH then follows up with tweets/e-mails/FB posts concerning stw/mods = effectively banned "for ever"

The arguments I can deal with, the misogyny and xenophobia that gets under the radar is less palatable. I guess that's part and parcel if the desired demographic is the teenager

trolling on here.

Have you considered saying what you think rather than just insulting those you disagree with? TBH I know what you dont like and how you dont think but I have no idea what you do think.
As for having a mind of your own - would you like me to give a left wing guardian leading liberal interpretation of what I think that means?
Its not just about your views but how you express them and you express them by just attacking those you dislike rather than saying what you think.
Perhaps , and no offence trolling meant, but there is probably a more right wing website out there where you and like minded folk can have a "mind of your own".

You know the sum total of sod all about me.

Was reading a long winded post t'other day (via another on-line media), which was basically the mother of all spats between a banned poster who rides a bicycle made for two & another 'banned' poster who resides in our nations fair capital city...
Quite amusing it was.

That amuses me greatly! Also proves a point slightly... Cos on here, they were always first to defend each other and help each others argument out. Absence of an audience has obviously driven then to argue with each other!

Wonder what it could be about... Perhaps an "I'm more left wing than you" debate? Or perhaps they were arguing who hates Maggie more... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Since the bannings of the big hitters, banning threads have become the new helmet threads!

Certainly the liveliest topics on the forum.

@ ampthill TJ is active on FB under his real name, which should be easy to find given the link posted above.

I thought big hitter and helmet threads were mutually co-dependent.

I don't see why certain members now feel like they have to hold back on future posts either

i think it is becuase the lare not always clear as to what is abuse and what is ok

I've seen posts on here that mention member's family members - Stuff like has to be stamped out surely...

Not being a 'mod' I can only guess that it's aggressive and personal stuff against a member rather than posts that simply argues a point in an aggressive way (if that makes sense)?

I'm not banned, just been on an all weekend bender

Nah, all it proved was that the guy (not TJ) has serious issues!

TJ's sound and should never have been banned, all he's ever done is give his honest opinion (on everything) if it differs from others opinions, so what? You're not allowed an alternate opinion? pathetic!

the rules here make no sense.

100... any chance of giving it a rest now? It's boring hearing the same old record over and over.

Or ****ing off to wherever TJ & Fred now live, and carrying it on there?

Were the multipage helmet or diet debates/arguments really a problem for the forum? I've quite easily managed to avoid reading most of the threads about those sorts of subjects and I suggest those who didnt like the repetitive nature of that sort of content just to ignore it too, rather than wanting those who are being 'argumentative' banned. It would be a different story if someone is being abusive and threatening on those threads but as far as im aware that wasnt the case.

The disappointing thing is that some of members who were banned were essentially harmless - Normally if someone says that then it sounds like they are being an apologist for someone who posts racist / sexist / homophobic content but they never said anything that would fit that definition and they seemed to remain civil while debating/arguing.

STW is a victim of its own success IMO, the days of it being a small online community of like minded people are long gone, now it's big you get every opinion and every type of person coming on here and surprise surprise not everyone agrees or gets along...
TJ's ban was harsh though IMO, he was alright and for every argument he got into he also posted something helpful and interesting on other threads, and was never outright abusive or rude....

Inaccurate, unsubstantiated ageism if you ask me,you'll be blaming hoodies for all society's ills next.
Where's your evidence?....as TJ would say ๐Ÿ˜‰

FWIW, TJ had to block Elfinsafety from his Facebook feed because of all the trolling and general insulting he was doing (irony? much?)

Agreed. If you want that go start/find another forum.

Indeed, TJ's blocking of Effinchaffing on FB was hilarious.

You know the sum total of sod all about me.

Not sure my post suggests i do know anything about you but I was just

telling it how it is.

just like you

I think you somewhat proved this point again

Its not just about your views but how you express them and you express them by just attacking those you dislike rather than saying what you think.

Yawn. It's ok for you to attack me and call me names though isn't it. It's a shame I can't block you on here like I and several others on MBR have because of your constant trolling and personal attacks on anyone who doesn't agree with your views.
