Magento is one of the better ones around, we spent some time investigating the options and this is what we've settled on for our current project.

If you go magento make sure you have a server with grunt.
oscommerce could be an option but it's base is rather old (wouldn't touch the v3 alpha).
If your in no rush then Osquantum could be the solution
