Help please. Anyone had problems with rear brake binding when leaning to one side of bike?
There is no play in the bearings and the skewer is tight. Wheels are Transverse Royals and the skewer is a bonty race light, with Mantra sl brakes.
It does take a bit of effort to make it happen.
does it happen when you lean both ways?
if not then try ligning up the calliper again - just a thought!
No only on one side. Cant remember which way at the mo.
rear brake binding when leaning to one side of bike
i.e. when cornering?
What frame is it?
I can make it happen whilst just rolling along and leaning off one side.
Frame is a Scott genius 30 carbon.
Check the spokes? are they loose?
Loose spokes should have no effect on what's happening to the hub.
Just a thought and it probably shouldn't make a difference but the pivot on the seat stay isnt loose is it? Have you tried removing the calliper and the disc to see if everything is ok? Have you checked for cracks in the swing arm that could cause abnormal flexing?
I've had the bit upside down and given the wheel some stick to see if there was any movement in the wheel bearings. Not checked for any cracks. I don't do cracks, only just got the bike so cracks are not allowed.LOL
Are the rotor bolts tight?
It's bound to be flex in the frame and hub, there has to be flex in them unless they're made of unobtanium, it just depends how hard you treat it.
Don't know Woody, will have to check. By rights the rotor should only move with the hub, only a dodgy bearing or flexy skewer would cause the problem I have. Looks like a strip down some time.
