does it matter which way a shock is fitted on a frame?
the reason i ask is that the shock my frame should have come with had the piggyback near the front shock mount but the shock that is currently on the frame is facing the other way...

Different frames need the shock different ways round to help with clearance. Some frames don't matter tho so the shock can go either way.
