My Rockshox Float R is beginning to lose air pressure during each ride.
Do I -
a/ Have it serviced (costing £80 ish)
b/ Buy one of the following new shocks -
Manitou Radium R or
Rockshox Bar R
I can get the new shocks for not much more than the servicing cost of the the Float R
What would you do ?
On an Orange SUB 3 btw ...
Any help appreciated
I'd get it serviced.. the other manufacturer keep getting closer but I've yet to be convinced that any are as good as Fox air shocks yet. (especially at the level/price your talking..)
See the NP Mega owners moaning/replacing their RS shocks & DT Swiss have been making shocks for years, no-one recommends them over fox do they?
Or even just buy the seal kit and fit it yourself, very easy & lots of guides on the internet (youtube).
Admittedly if the seals have failed, it's probably due a good service (nitrogen recharge).
Agree with Z1ippy, buy a seal kit, really easy to fit. its not like servicing a front shock i.e. messy. just make sure you remove the air from the shock before you take it off the bike.
If its just losing air pressure and the damping is still working ok, with no squelchy noises then you can just replace the air can and shock body seals. Its about 15 mins to do it, nothing complicated in it at all.
