I'm looking in to upgrading my front mech.I have just upgraded my chainset to an XT 10 speed triple,now my top swing 8 speed is feeling clunky(alvio)
What are the main differances, top swing ,conventional,e type?
How do they differ in performance?

if your frame will allow, get a conventional front mech.
the band sits higher up the seat tube and the mech hangs down from there, there is much less of a 'platform' to collect mud/crud. IME this design far outlasts a top swing mech
no experience of an E Type.

Thanks, I was thinkin about a full xt set up,apart from price whats the main differences between XT and XTR?should i consider Sram?
