Hi,
So yesterday I had a rather large tumble and found my bike on top of a gorse bush. Having pulled it out and got back on the trail i found that the level pulled to the bars, pumped it a couple of times and it felt fine again. Trundling along I found that it pulled to the bars again!
It seems to engage fine when stopped but when moving there's no power. They're hope m4's (the gold type) and I can't see any break in the system or anywhere that fluid has leaked. What could be causing this? Can I get away with a bleed or should I also replace the hose?
Cheers!
Bleed it first. Sounds like air got in the line probably from the lever chamber.
If you want to test it for leaks afterward cable tie the lever to the handle bar so the whole thing is under pressure. Leave it overnight. Any leaks/problems and that tie will loosen, also inspect lever to caliper for leaks.
If in doubt take it to a trusted mechanic for a second opinion.
PS - Its possible you broke something inside the lever during the crash.
Hayes 9s are notorious for that but never heard of it with hope's
Cheers, i'll try tying the lever and if it looks OK I'll try giving it a bleeding ๐
most likely there was a small bubble of air under the diaphragm and when the bike was upside down this got into the lines.
Bleed the brakes
So, turns out that my disc rotor is rather warped! (I'll give it a bleed anyway)
