I have a Smart Lunar rear light, which is a great piece of kit and very bright. However the light dies to a vague glow when it gets cold (sub zero), but is then fine when back in the house. Is this due to a poor choice of battery (Energiser Industrial Alkaline - AAA), or is there something wrong with the unit?

Cheers

Probably because the batteries are nearly done. Put new ones in and try it.

Yep, most high power LED's work best with NiMh rechargables as they are better in high-drain applications (less internal resistance or something). At room temp you prob wont notice much difference on a rear LED, but make things very cold and that will change.

Try with rechargeables.

Cheers guys, the batteries are brand new, so I don't think it's as simple as changing them, I'll give some re-chargables a go. I've also just read that Lithiums are better in the cold.
