I recently entered the Rat race crossing event this summer and was wondering if anyone did it last year and has any hints or tips about clothing/training/? I've got a good bike (Giant Anthem X 29er) for the event so I should be fine equipment wise.
I've never done any sort of race or back to back big rides before so any info could be useful.
Never been in a race myself done some long big mountain riding over 5 days straight
some useful tips on these links

Loads of grinding uphill on Tarmac ..... a good bit of hike a bike (cliff traverse at patterdale) some stunning off road riding.....great crack at the camps and a totally brilliant experience.....won't do it again cos its done ....my only gripe = too much road!!!!......but that's just me....take some anti inflamnatory's for your butt on day 3.
... You'll love it
That's great guys! Thanks for the tips. I do a fair bit of road riding already so don't mind it too much. I never would have thought of anti inflammatory's though so cheers for that! ๐
