It doesn't have to be in Calderdale [i]per se[/i]. That's just where the skool originated. Of course, if you weren't there, you wouldn't understand. By "there", I don't just mean in Calderdale, but in the moment, when the skool became what it is today. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Calderdale and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark — that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

I've been going up hills in Calderdale for 20 years and i have to admit i've always preferred to look West at the top but i musn't have the right kind of eyes.......... or perhaps i couldn't see for my Orange glasses if you get my drift???

Starting to slowly move away from the trail centres, they were a good place to start and get used to riding. hmmm.....now I am even more confused as what to get!

I am sure it will be fine. Nobody on here can give a fair comment on how it will ride, as no-one bar brant has actually ridden one.

but Brant builds bikes that most people get on with* so its a safe bet.

Hebden Bridge actually exists? I heard its a halfway house between the factories of Halifax and the interbreeding of Todmorden. A sort of big-butch Lesbionia.

I think the whole thing about whether a bike 'suits your type of riding' is a little irrelevant. (No offence!)

Assuming it's not a single speed jump bike, a road bike, a tricycle or an 8 inch travel monster (which the Blue Pig isn't!) it'll probably be totally fine for what you need it for.

It's a long travel steel hardtail isn't it? I've ridden similar at trail centres, natural rocky Peaks trails and boggy bridleways.

Stop worrying, build your bike and have fun 😉

Big dummy sir it is you and your ilk who have brought the skool to Calderdale and kept it there and one day i shall venture Brantwards for more enlightenment but i shall say this first, my skill and gnarl were earned in the 70's upon a blue Royal Enfield with cow horn bars, frame angles didn't matter, suspension was a mere twinkle, and the moorland bomb holes we jumped out of have long since been reclaimed for agriculture, i can truly say 'i remember this before it was fields'. So i shall venture to Tod one day but it will not be to buy into a lifestyle, only to enhance it and move closer to the light.......

Ah, the steps of death. They make you ride like the village drunkard in some early Irish novel. Total loss of all basic motor skills. Blurred vision, no balance, numb tongue. The mind recoils in horror, unable to communicate with the spinal column. Which is interesting because you can actually watch yourself riding in this terrible way, but you can't control it...

I've been riding one for a couple of weeks. Review will appear in next issue of Singletrack (alongside Lynskey Ridgeline LT, Whyte 19 Ti and a Van Nicholas MamTor) 🙂

Have you ridden the mmBop as well Ben? and care to give a teaser summary?

Looking at that list of frames Ben, surely it's the Ti frame that you're riding/reviewing alongside them, not the Blue Pig?

also how come you aren't reviewing the Ti456 alongside those other frames? especially considering the Mamtor is considered to be Van Nicolas take on that frame.

Mamtor? It sounds scary but if this is the Mam Tor in the Peaks its more of a walkers paradise? 😕

But the Ti456 already got 10/10 from Guy Kesteven, so the Ragley Ti is going to have to get 11/10.....

Don't worry, whatever frame the OP chooses he'll still get passed on a gnarly downhill by some old bloke on a knackered raleigh activator with his helmet pushed back at a jaunty angle and the kind of grin on his face that comes from spending more time riding than worrying about what frame to buy 😆

this is funny and geographically frightengly true as from the pike you can see Blackpool Tower if you look west(ish)

I've heard rumours you can see the top of snowdon too, but i've yet to see it, or blackpool tower. But then again its often cloudy at the pike

My dad says he's seen the tower from the pike, but he's not all there in the head, he was probably looking at Emley Moor TV Transmitter which I have seen. Snowdon is a new one one me, I'd be very surprised is you could.

Well i looked for the pike from the top of snowdon and couldnt see it, even with binocular assistance so i'm firmly in the 'cobblers' camp on that one.

So why not the Ti456 Ben? would be an interesting and unique article especially considering one is supposed to be an evolution of the other.
