Personally, I don't care if music is new or not. Never have. I know that's not everyone's view though.

Me either, but I thought his whole "thing" was that he discovered and promoted new acts. But to me on 6music he just seems to be a Steve Write-esque Drivetime DJ...

Other opinions may vary ๐Ÿ™‚

Killing keveny would help. Love the rest of it.
Started listening to The Arrow in the shop. Radio 2/absolute level of rock. No DJs no ads.

not sure thats his remit these days. i just like listening to a good mix of old and new. theres some cracking old songs that youve completely forgotten about sometimes.

GP's interview with Bobby Womack was good.

I liked the bit were Bobby said that, early in his career and when he first made some money from gigging, he was advised by another Sould singer to buy a nice watch/jewelry, ready for the day when he would need to pawn it! That's why all the famous Soul singers are draped in jewelry.

I would have liked to have heard that TurnerGuy. I'll see if it's on Listen Again.
Loved watching him on Later, although I wish someone had revived his career 5 years ago.

However that current jingle where Paul McCartney says through his dentures "we play music - we don't work music" is the worst - I am close to emailing in and complaining, for all the good it will do.

They would only email you back ,to let you know that that's Shaun Keveney doing his impression of Nacca ๐Ÿ˜‰

HTH

"parental lies"

I can't believe people further up the thread said that all the shout-outs/call-ins/tweets/etc were ironic - it's littered with them!

if he would glue his dentures in properly he might not be so bad.

It was the 29th December show.

You are in luck - I found it on mixcloud.

Lauren Laverne generally makes up for any overtalking with the quality of the music (most of the time)

No, no she does not. Her music selections are more miss than hit, unfortunately, and she has a tendency to overplay some stuff.
The northern one on Saturday afternoons is the worst; but I think you're right that during the day the quality has dropped over hte last few years.

Being a northern male of a certain age and a taste for stuff other than R&B, folk, pop, C&W, classical...
...I find 6Music by far the best of what is available.

May also explain my fondness for getting over the morning waking pains with another - Shaun W Keaveny ๐Ÿ˜‰

RadMac are a bit Radio 2 though ๐Ÿ™

Absolute Radio 90's is pretty good for filling in the gaps between the rubbish bits on 6music. It's right the way down the end of the "dial". There is also do Absolute 80's and 00's
