Will it be ok? Morzine area - I'll be riding Singletrack (Maybe a little of the downhill too ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I would also prefer to use it here in the UK until I go to the Alps at the beginning of July as well, as my rear Nobby Nic has just about had it!

Is it worth it or should I just stock another Nobby Nic on?

We find most of the Nokian "name" range to be way too fragile round here. Nobody seems to last more than a couple of days with them.

Run a DH tyre.

Depends what type of trails you go on and how you ride. I'm a right weight weenie, but stick on proper DH tyres in the alps as I shred everything else. Go for super tacky on the front and harder compound on the back.

Mmmm? I have a couple of Minions (Front & Rear Specific) Super Tacky in the shed (hardly used) which I could use, but from memory (I haven't ridden them for ages) they were VERY heavy & VERY 'draggy' - Will these still be ok for the 'Singletrack' stuff?

That might save me a few quid??

It depends how fast and hard you go - DH tyres drag a lot, esp the Super tacky ones, but if you want to make the most of the descents, you really need them.

As a compromise you could put some High Rollers (60a) front and back - reasonable drag, but can take some abuse on the descents.

Bung the Minions on.
If you don't use them in the Alps, what's the point of having them?

Ok, sounds like a unanimous vote for the Minions (I had these left over from when i had a DH bike a while back, so just as well stick them on!).

Thanks for your input guys.

mate of mine who is not gentle on bikes rode with 2.5" Nobby Nics with snakebite protection and had no punctures after a week of DH riding in Morzine.
Racing Ralphs would be pretty crap I reckon. It's not that they would flat necessarily but they might not give you the confidence required to get the best out of the trails, even if you were only doing Singletrack.
