Hi guys
I'm trying to remove the raceface ride crank from my fatbike so I can change the bb to hope ( the mt800 bb didn't last 6 months...fitted by a lbs)
Anyhoo...ive removed the drive side arm and according to utube the crank should pull off OK...might need a light tap with a rubber mallet.
Well I've been pounding it for a good 5mins and it's not moving...is it possible the drive side bb bearings are stopping the crank from coming out?
Anyone had this problem or should I get my club hammer out for a proper bash
The bearing has probably corroded/stuck to the spindle. You could try some PlusGas, GT85 or WD40 and leave to soak for a bit, but the likely answer is to hit it harder.
I best warm up the club hammer..lol
Careful, you can damage the axle by using something hard (it can chip). If the rubber mallet isn't man enough I suggest refitting the bolt and hitting that or placing some other padding between hammer and axle.
Use some inotech deblock it’s amazing stuff! My brother recommended it to me as they use it at work for unseizeing stuff on the trucks.
Worked on removing a stuck seatpost, bb and a pedal so far.

Some great ideas.thanks...Good shout on the replacement of the bolt
Some great ideas.thanks...Good shout on the replacement of the bolt, I was worried I might mushroom the end of the crank
If it is anything like mine was, the axle will have gone rusty between the bearings and will fight you all the way if you try and force the axle through the NDS bearing.
Try unscrewing the NDS bearing cup as you tap the end of the crank axle so that the bearing cup comes out with the crank. You can then give the axle a good clean up before trying to remove the NDS cup from it.
Slather plenty of waterproof grease on the replacement when you fit it!
I wish I could remove the cup first but the tool I got to remove the mt800 is the socket type ....so the crank is in the way...typical!!

Ahh… oh dear.
You’d need one that looks like this:

Bigger (metal) hammer with a piece of wood to stop any damage, never had much luck with a rubber mallet.
Exactly what I've just did @hooli ...took a few good whacks....then more to push though the other side....the bearings were just shot...never seen anything like it in all my 40 years of riding...the new hope's are in place now ...feels like a new bike now..cheers guys

My RF Turbine pressfit was like that after about 3 rides. Got it replaced under warranty (was sending the frame back for something else). When the frame came back to me I packed a load of fresh grease in. Not checked for a while, so I probably should!
