Ah hah, I thought I might as well just ask, and I got a very straight answer back- hope it's not cheeky to post it here but it might answer some people's questions. The frames are CEN tested, on the insistence of the frame manufacturer- Sirius didn't plan to do this which is why there's confusion, but were left without a choice so had to change the design before going to full production (gussets on the top tube junctions, a thicker headtube and the bigger chainstays). So the heavier weight than claimed does have the obvious explanation, and should come along with a lot more strength than was originally planned for the Sirius.
To their credit they gave me a weight of 5.3lbs for a medium, which seems to be pretty accurate, even though from my email they'd know it'd put me off- that's good going. Think they should have advised preorder customers of the change myself but that's by the by.
Oh, the other questions I asked if they're of any interest, the geometry figures on the website are based on a 130mm fork sagged, and they're very low on stock of some of the frames til August so if you want one, better get in.
Thanks for posting that Northwind, when I enquired about the frames back in December I was told that they wouldn't be CEN tested so it's interesting to hear that they have been.
