In the process of planning a couple of stops on our way back from our next trip.
Thinking of the Queyras and La Clusaz areas.
Anyone ridden in these areas and if so is it worth 4/5 nights in each area
Will have the Enduros and Turbo Levos with us.
Any other area we should be considering
Cheers

I go to the edge of the Queyras every summer. There is some excellent riding. Look at vttour.fr for some inspiration.

From the top of Sommet de Bucher there are many options. Furfande > Garnier > Guillestre is excellent. Look at some of the Stone King Rally stages.

Col Mousierre to Bois Durat is excellent too.

There is other excellent riding on the flanks of the Durance Valley, as well as in and below Risoul. Shuttle bus back to resort (+900m) is 7 euro.

And Guil-e-bike do uplift and guided tours. I have never used them, but used their social media posts for ideas.

Also see

Additionally, if you combine Col de Peas and Col du Fromage into one ride, well...

Ooh, just made me have flashbacks of paddling chateau Queyras Gorge.

We always used to do it on Alps paddling trips and it was always my nemesis in terms of the commitment factor. Like being flushed down a toilet 😊

Stunning area.

In case you are looking for local guiding:

https://backcountrymtb.com/trip-vtt-hautes-alpes/

Benji and his wife run a gite and guiding business in the area. The gite is a wonderful place to stay with amazing food.

Friends highly recommend Benji's guiding.

Julia Hobson ( https://www.endlesstrailsmtb.com/) also guides in the area.

The Queyras is stunning and has loads to offer.

It’s a great area to ride, and I can recommend Benji as a guide. He worked as a guide at Bike Village when we were there a few years ago and is a lovely chap.

We’re heading back this summer. Can’t wait!

Did a day at La Clusaz in 2023.

Main downhill is a lot of fun and not severe, the enduro tracks are generally quite engaging and some have steep bits. Explored the off-piste a little and got the impression one more day would have been enough.

Nice place.

@Kayak23 - I remember doing Chateau Q at some truly stonking early season levels in the past. One year I spent a while in an undercut before having to chase a boat halfway down L’Ange Gardien!  Luckily it was an indestructible Necky Blunt so only ended up with a few scuffs!
