this saturday at midday, who's going?
Oh yes. Looking forward to riding the trail in decent conditions.
i'm going, partly to stalk you jedi. and then there's jamie's famous roast pork.
conditions.. iffy, might rain tomorrow pm, hope not. wouldn't risk the summer tyres.
all the hargroves guys (organising race) are camped out there already.. gonna be big!
hoping to get there, depending on the significant other letting me ๐
ooh I would like to go. I have a uni exam on Tuesday that I should revise for so it depends on weather and how confident I feel after wasting this evening getting drunk.
Will be passing through on a SDW ride, hope to try out the new trail along the way ๐
Yes, should be good, rode it last saturday to check it out, was a bit sticky in places but hopefully the wind and lack of rain will have dried it all out by now.
Should be good fun. See you. All there
Heading down on Sat pm, but purely in a socialising/drinking capacity. ๐
Be good to catch up with you Jedi.
Yup. I'll be there. Been looking forward to it for months!
I'll see you in the morning Jedi
i'm aiming to be there by 10am ๐
i'll be there. ๐
see you there thom
Which bike for new QE trails?
1) Scott Strike
2) Rigid SS
3) Hard core hard tail jump(ish) bike
Will be there a bit later ready for the 4hr race thingy.
WCA I reckon you'd be fine on your 75er (or whatever wheel size it is) ss, the ups would be a bit of a slog mind you.
WCA. If you are racing, then I would take the HT or FS (if its light). You might get a bit too knackered on the SS.
For just general riding, any of them or all of them! I personally like to use my FS when its dry'ish, and HT when wet.
does anyone have a postcode for the carpark for the mtb bit? I have found a generic one for Queen elizabeth country park
PO8 0QE Its the same place. Carpark for the MTB trails is inside QECP
Thanks superfli,
just to confirm theres a race on but is there a chance to just go for a ride in the afternoon without racing! has anyone got a website link for the day or a timetable? well up for this!
Joe

Nothing with a timetable though. Race starts at 18:00 on Sat. Red trail will be closed for this, but will be open during the day. Also road through the park will be closed for start of the race at least.
There is free camping too if you want to stay and get pished ๐
Nick - I have ss'd around QE before but there was a fair bit of walking. If it is greasy then it is really difficult uphill on roots. I wouldn't bother again unless dry.
Can you email about possibly leading a Lordswood ride one tuesday?
Yeah, like to but won't be at midday! Depends on ferry cheapness too...
have they actually built trails in new areas or just developed what was there already?
New areas and developed existing.
Will be there beer and bike in boot!
Was planning to be but will now be on a flight for business, sadly a familiar story.
Have a great time everyone
I wish I'd seen this sooner.
I might pop down for a ride as I've not been there in donkeys years - happy memories of dislocating my finger.
I'd have fancied the race (hence wishing I'd seen it sooner). Shame it's no entries on the day.
Master Jedi - it's a long way. If you fancy a ride in the Mundano to save your diesel let me know.
fairly sure there are entries on the day. hargroves seemed to expect around 90 booked + 90 on the day for the race. might need to sign in earlier though, anyone know?
the guy above asking about bikes.. i'd do it on a short travel FS (top fuel i have). def. not a single speed. if you only have a long travel and ht, i'd use the ht. but whatever works for you ๐
kobbly tyres. it won't be bone dry.
adjustable seatpost worth having.
jedi, are you travelling down tomorrow morning, if you wanted to cut the journey up you're more than welcome to crash at our house tonight, should be pretty much on the way ๐
I've just spoken to Andy at Hargreaves and entry on the day is fine ๐
So I reckon I'll bimble down later and go and enter the race event.
Andy at Hargreaves
HarGROVES, surely ๐
Does this mean phillyconsequeincious is going to be at QEPark, or just offering Jedi a bed?
WCA - QE Park is harder than Afan. Don't bring the SS ๐
I'll be there. Maybe Yeti, maybe Handjob. Not racing though.
i'm offering jedi a bed
i might be tempted into riding, should really check i'm not already booked in to being awesome elsewhere before committing though
have they actually built trails in new areas or just developed what was there already?
Here is a vid of most of the new bits

+1 on all that, but i rode on Wednesday night with nobby nic on front and race king on back, which i will keep for the race unless it rains tonight or tomorrow then nobby nics front and rear.
looks like the race will be about 150 rides, with a mass start and about 5 to 9 laps depending how fast you are.
Despite working just down the road, I have yet to make it to QECP!!
ALAS, this weekend I'll be riding past, but on the roadie bike with about 200 other "beach to beachers"!!!
DrP
There is a sportive on sat morning if anyone likes that kind of thing ๐ ๐
http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/main.asp?sitepages=events-garmin-sportive
raining right now Scott. flat pedals and knobbly tyres for me. (maybe a neck brace, full face helmet, oh lord).
Nics it is then
I'd love to go, but we're off on the motorbike for the weekend...sorry.....
Have fun all!
๐
5 to 9 laps
Not of the whole orange/red trail?? ๐ฏ
No, it takes in some of Orange/Red trail, but not much.
i'll be down to ride the trail before i open it ๐ then it will be beer o'clock and camping ๐
Been raining steadily here all afternoon, those A3 side climbs willbe fun ๐
Its not too bad in the wet, although I will be putting my mud tyres/wheels. Be a bit careful on the switchbacks.
Fkn weather. I was just saying to mates at work, I'm still using my winter gloves on my motorbike - its nearly June!
Apparently I want to go an look at a house and then do some clothes shopping instead so i won't be there now. ๐
The guy asking about a Tusday night tour of Lordswood - I am up in london every day at the moment so don't get back in time for ther regular Thursday night 7pm ride. I suppose I could do a later ride one Tuesday. Email me directly and we can sort something out.
Come on you firey ball in the sky show your face I don't really want to change my tyres
very nice. did'nt look like that in the mid 80's when i started riding there. great to see that someone has finally realised what an excellent cycling centre it can be, so much potential and many of the best bits were/are out of bounds.
