I got some new (moden) wheels for the Dawes galaxy. Will Quick release work with the horizontal drops outs?

Its for fully loaded touring so I don’t wanna chance anything.

if they are not ideal what do I do?

thanks in advance

Q/r was pretty normal on horizontal dropouts so yes it should work fine. IIRC galaxy’s were qr as oe.

It’s not exactly horizontal.

Yes, most lower tier bikes ran dropouts like that long after QRs became standard issue. Use internal cam skewers as per always and they'll be fine.

I think they are just regular shimano skewers. Like on every other bike I have. QR would make things easier.

Don't use external cam skewers.

IMO noone has really bettered the Shimano design of mid to late 90s for QR skewers.

All dropouts used to be like this before we got socket dropouts on mainstream bikes probably around the early/ mid 90s (might have been a bit earlier).

Will be fine.  That bike dates from 1989-90.  They were all like that. I sooo wanted that blue frame, but as a poor PhD student, had to settle for the 501 Horizon that was a size too small.
