I'm looking to purchase my first pair of clipless shoes. Having always ridden Five Ten Freerider, I naturally am looking at the Hellcat. How do they size up (generally I always go one size bigger with Five Ten) and any feedback ob these for XC riding.

I am a size 9uk regular shoe and a uk9.5 in a hellcat pro.

It's almost xc disco slipper stiff and with toe box like a rigger boot. Ideal for flying rocks.

Reviews seem to suggest they offer decent stiffness and pedal power transfer on longer rides.

I've got some of the previous generation Hellcat Pros...good shoes, comfy, burly and well made, but pretty heavy.

I've also got some Shimano spd shoes, and definitely prefer them for general riding use.

I only use the 5-10s on more gravity heavy days.

I've used a pair for touring.

First Five Tens and very impressed. Comfy for walking but stiff enough on the bike.

The Velcro strap comes up quite high, so needs careful positioning to avoid rubbing.
