I might have the chance to source a large quantity of road planings.

Our parish wants a Pump Track and I was wondering if planings would make a good base or a starter for ten for a basic track.

Needless to say our parish is not the most affluant and anything free would be good and recycled 😉

Thoughts.

I’m don’t have experience or advice on the construction of the track but, depending on where you are… please check if you need to take into account the waste regulation aspects of using road planings.  You may need to check that your proposed use complies with (and then register) a U1 exemption with your waste regulator (NRW, EA, etc)

You should check the origin of the planings. Bituminous or asphalt based should be ok, but anything old containing coal tar is carcinogenic and should be avoided.
