Any suggestions around the £4-£500 mark please. Have a half decent full sus bike and a class ss steel hardtail, I fancy something for mucking about on plus there's a bmx track opened just around the corner 😉

I'd be looking for a secondhand DMR Trailstar or Sidekick...

I have this DMR Trailstar for sale: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-dmr-trailstar-cheap-hack-bike

Swap to a shorter stem and it might be ideal. You could also SS it easily since it has horiz dropouts

I’d build one for that money. I picked up a Planet-X Jack Flash frame for £50 on e-bay, pair of coil Marz forks for £80 and that leaves you with £300 - £400 ish to kit it out. You can build these things pretty simply anyway, single speed, only a rear brake, heavy finishing kit. You could have a hell of a bike for £500.

Yep, sounds like an ideal candidate for building one up with bargain bits.
This is my pub/commuter/spare/fitness/tinkering bike, built up for less than £200, A lot of it is very new and nothing is particularly old/worn out. Helps if you can build your own wheels, if not, its the perfect time to learn. Not exactly a jump bike but you get the idea, could have been easily built that way for the same/less money
