Last day of the current Halfords sale, I started looking at the ebikes on offer and got all excited when I saw British Cycling membership have reversed their reduction on Halfords discount from 8% back to 10%.

There's also a Halifax cashback offer for Halfords of 4% (up to £30 max) that I activated, which expires mid February.

Then read T&Cs for B Cycling code and it excludes ebikes and some other items. 🙁

... Must resist changing my mind, looking at the Boardman ADV 8.9; the new TRVL that can take 50mm tyres; or my first aero bike that my pathetic legs/heart these days struggles to put out ~66% of my pre long covid performance and ~25% of my old stamina.

Just snagged some IXS waterproof trousers for £45 (well £49 with postage) to replace my now very dead Fox Ranger waterproofs that were twice that price.

Brand x carbon bars for £30 at Evans cycles.

Only problem is you don't know the rise and the website is vague.

Thanks! I've got a chunk of ixs stuff and it's all really good. There are kids' trews for 30 quid on there as well.

True cost of Merlin forks:
£250 delivered
Less £10 loyalty point voucher
Less 2.55% topcashback

= £235

Plus stickers £5.49
Plus another set of stickers in case you don't like the colour £5.49
Plus a cable guide (because you've used a cable tie on every other fork you own for a decade but these are only the second brand new forks you've ever had so you're going to do it properly) £12.50
Plus a funky little mudguard £15
Plus getting the bushings checked because you can't trust new forks £40
Plus a new front brake hose because it's blatantly too short but you've been putting it off £10
Plus a boostinator kit for your 20 year old DT hubs £30

£353.48. Dangerous business these bargains

Just asking for a friend as I absolutely don't need to spend anymore this month....

What stickers did you go for?

Where did you get the cable guide?

Which mud guard did you go for? I was looking at the fox one but syncros do a near identical one for half the price.

From hotukdeals, cheap Boardman frame only (NO FORK) deals from £110 before applying Halfords "spend & save" and British Cycling discount! 😮

https://www.halfords.com/search?q=frame+only

In a dozy state, I'm trying to get an idea of how much it will cost to get a fork, full (ideally 2x11) Shimano drivetrain, have some old bolt thru wheels I could use...
Merlin 38mm tyre clearance fork £50 https://www.merlincycles.com/road-bike-forks-111352/
GRX 2x11 chainset from £67 https://www.merlincycles.com/road-bike-chainsets-75285/?brand=shimano
etc.

@neil, I've ordered the cheapest stickers off ebay. Cable guide is genuine Fox, you can get cheaper 3d printed ones off the internet but they are terrible prints. I got the syncros v2 guard just cos it's cheaper and looks decent.

This might be a better choice than the Brand X for cheap carbon bars with a good choice of rises, £51 with the usual £5 off. I haven't ridden them yet though, still building.

I've gone through tcb 3 or 4 times with OS subscriptions and none of them have tracked. When I've chased they've always refused for spurious reasons.

I wouldn't rely on the cashback as part of your purchasing decision.

Did anyone order any Pearl Izumi socks from the sportsdirect link last week?

I ordered a thermal pair and when they arrived they were stickered as UK 6-12 but were actually 2.5-4.

Complained and got another pair sent out as replacements, which arrived yesterday exactly the same.... Surely not a chance happening....

Maxxis Assegai EXO 29x2.5 for £25.59 (with code CHILLY20) here. Even cheaper if you buy more than one. White OEM logos and probably only dual compound but cheap is cheap!

That seemed to be the pick of the bunch but various others with the 20% discount in their store (DHF and Aggressor also for a similar price).

Absolutely tons of Leatt kit on SportPursuit

Beware, if tempted by trousers... last time I tried some in the (free postage! free returns!) days of CRC, they came up absolutely tiny!

https://www.sportpursuit.com/sales/leatt-jan25

(ooh, and the default p&p cost on there isn't £4.99 anymore. That's nice)

Welcome for a cuppa if you ever come over the Gospel Pass anyway. I have ridden a farm quad down Y-Das before the repairs. I think the C5 might struggle a bit!

Osprey Siskin 8 in postal blue for less than £40 with bladder at Amazon.

Appears a good margin cheaper than everywhere else online if anyone's looking for a new hydration pack.

not the socks, but I ordered the waterproof trousers for a bargain of £30. Knowing they came up small I ordered size 36 (I’m 32 jeans so prob 34 ‘proper’ size). Just can’t even get them over my thighs.

Does make you wonder what's happening with Endura , they've had massive discounts directly They rarely used to have any discounts at all ?

I heard Endura were very close to folding, they've stopped doing custom kit orders etc. Parent company is "Pentland" who own plenty other big names in the wider industry (Berghaus, Canterbury, Speedo etc) so I imagine there is pressure there to perform.
