Helmet arrived today via Evri. Ridiculously quick as well as ridiculously cheap.
I’m not certain an Eliminator is a suitable front tyre though – it’s a Butcher I really need I suspect.
Butcher T9 Grid Trail is an acceptable front tyre. Pretty good in the dry and on rock, not so great in mud.
Hillbilly T9 Grid Trail is an excellent tyre, can be used as mud-specific or a 3-season all rounder depending how many other tyres/wheels you have. It's decent enough in the dry as well TBH.
Spotted these at Merlin while looking for a 27.5 Lyrik – 29 Pike Ultimate £525, 29 Zeb Ultimate £599
A heads up that the description on thes Zebs says they are the charger 2.1 version, but the ones that arrived (for me at least) are the 2023 charger 3 version. So probably more of a bargain than it looks like on the surface.
Thanks to tyre advice from @Tracey and @chakaping, I've got 3 Hillbilly GRID Trail 29x2.4s on the way from Balfe's for a total of £56 all-in - for three tyres! (sign up to newsletter for £10 off a min £50 spend). Did some reading up on them after pointers above and sounds like a good front tyre for what I ride.
Yeah that eliminator seems a bit wasted in T9, good on the back in T7
T9 Butcher is a great tyre on my full sus bike only really struggles when its very muddy, I have a T7 on my hardtail and its also brilliant, until it doesnt hook up the way the T9 does and you end up on your arse!
Factory DHX2 for less than half price looks like a good deal.

Specialized deal seems to be working for me:
"You just got your cheapest tire/tube for free. Enjoy! Promotion valid from June 17, to July 17 of 2024"

Anyone know how tough the Eliminator Grid Trail is, compared to a Maxxis DD? Ta
The specialized discount doesn't seem to work for butcher tyres.
Might try the eliminator instead.

I had a cheap Eliminator Grid on the back of my hardtail, was great, but sidewalls definitely weren't up to it, got the Grid Trail now and it's a huge improvement
But not quite as tough as double down, more like exo plus, I really rate it as a rear.
Thanks @kimbers tempted to take a punt at £22.50. I had one of the older Grid ones and by the time I took it off it had 9 worms in it!
Which version of the zeb was the charger 3 version? The black or grey?
cheers.
Does anyone want one of those Bell Super DH helmets in large before I send it back? It’s definitely too big for me.
I was going to ask if someone wants a small. It does fit me at 56cm but its just a little too snug. I paid £45 so how about £50 posted? Or will return it.
If it bothers you, my missus says it definitely a "Bluey" helmet.
Cheers AG
If it doesn't fit you purple moose can I go next in line for the bell helmet 😄
It's a shame they're so awkward looking, because £499 for a carbon Bird Aether frame is certainly cheap
https://www.bird.bike/product/aether-9c-frameset/#configuration
Surely they could get them repainted and take less of a hit. £1000 buys a lot of paint. Could even charge more for custom or ltd editions
99bikes with some heavy discounts on Bold. Assuming hidden rear shocks are your bag…
Onzadog - I know. Maybe they got them for free as a messed up order from their supplier.
I've never liked the way these look or wanted a carbon frame in general, but I don't have a full suss right now and the price drop has got me tempted.

It's five hundred quid for a carbon frame.
They all look the same covered in mud.
Take the bargain and tell everyone who will listen what you paid .... or pay full price and forget about it.
This has got me all confused. I was swaying towards the buy button for a Cotic Jeht, having previously liked the Aether 9A which isn't in stock til late this year. Then this weekend I noticed those Bold Linkin deals, which are very tempting. And now these bargain 9Cs.
I previously ruled out the 9C based on it being more expensive and uglier than the alu, as well as being heavy for carbon with a bit of a reputation for hardware issues.
But £500...!
Those Bold look great money but not a lot of info on them
Ive just read it and came back for the psa link 🙂 I really should back down a bit ....
Anyone want a large Bell helmet before I send it back? Send me a message and we can discuss postage etc.
Have sent a message to you captaintomo
Had a look on @mattoutandabout 's link (disclaimer - because I ride for Roots) and £600 off a £1500 XC hardtail and a grand off a Slash looks pretty good to me.

Lots of items 50% or more off over at Polaris
For the man who prefers braces
https://www.polaris-bikewear.com/polaris-discovery-wet-weather-trail-short.html

In sure they are good, but they look a bit oompa band
I've got some of those in a fetching deep turquoise. They're slightly too small but otherwise they're brilliant. Not much use on a full wet rainy day (obviously they're shorts...) but puddly splashy days, the high back keeps the splashes on the outside. Wear a top over the braces and no one thinks you've left your tuba behind.
Not sure what happened to Polaris. They've had that sale on for ages now and seem to be set up as a market place type site rather than just selling their own gear. Shame because their padded undershorts were my absolute favourite. I've got a couple of their jackets and a fleecy soft shell thing that are excellent.
