Just got A Maxxis tyre delivered from Merlin (DHR2 3C Exo+ 29x2.4) £49.99

Not a great saving but cheapest I could see and needed as the side knobs on my old one a clinging on for dear life.

No retail packaging and a white Maxxis logo, must have been taken off a new bike. I was so close to buying a pair of Kryptotals because the thought of having white and yellow Maxxis logos was making me twitch, I'm at ease now.

Specialized still have some great deals on tyres.

They had an extra 10% off and discount on sign up to email, meaning I got a 2.3" Purgatory GRID 2Bliss Ready T7 in 29" fpr under £21 delivered. Still there for £22 today

Slam69 currently have 15% off everything, which makes some Hope stuff very price competitive. One-Up V2s are £180/210 so cheaper than above. New V3 version sounds good but they seem to be slowly hiking the price at each revision.

Deviate Highander frames for £1,650 (£1,050 off) - only L and XL remaining but choice of 140 or 150 linkage. Note this is the original model and not the newer Highlander 2: https://store.deviatecycles.com/collections/sale-23/products/deviate-highlander-frame

There may have been one remaining XL in yellow, but not now...

Good one. Even better is its £40.50 with the extra 10% that's being applied to baskets at the moment.

If 650b gravel wheels are your thing, here's a big chunk off on the top of the line Spesh Rovals at Sigma. £1038 down from £2200 apparently. If they were 700c I'd be poorer.

If anyone's after some cheaper carbon 650b gravel wheels, I have some Ribble ones (about 1,500g, 25mm internal) I'd be happy to let go for what I paid - £250ish.

That’s quite clearly a scam site. See if Jim can do anything to claw back his payment before it’s too late.

If you search for electrifybike.shop on google the only hit is this forum page.

This type of scam site has come up quite a few times recently. It helps to understand how domain names work:

Google electrifybike and you’ll find a real business sure enough (let’s leave aside the fact they’re American). But google, in quote marks “electrifybike.shop” and you’ll get the result I mentioned.

Read web addresses from right to left. For example, if you one day visit singletrackworld.net, it’s got nowt to do with this site, it’s a totally different site. Also, singletrackworld.shop.com is actually a subdomain of shop.com (just an example, don’t click the link that’s been autogenerated 😂) that has nowt to do with singletrackworld.com and would be an example of a scam. Shop.singletrackworld.com on the other hand could be a legitimate subdomain of singletrackworld.com.

Edit: slight correction, the exact search I used that only returned this page was : “electrifybike.shop” reviews.

adding the quote marks stopped me getting reviews for inexact matches like electrifybike.com

Did poor Jim find this scam via here?

The last month or two, I've seen there are posters here with very limited skills when it comes to understanding how the web works and how to keep safe. So perhaps caution is needed over posting things as "obvious" scams as jokes.

I've never understood with these "clone site" type scans why they set the price so low, making the scam obvious - if they put more content on that site and higher prices, they'd surely get more takers? Always seems with most financial fraud that going to all that trouble but still only doing half a job is surely counter-productive? But then again, Jim went for it! 😬
