If repair is needed it is fast, affordable and simple.

in the blurb doesn't instil confidence that it's at all robust

No different to a Reverb, except Reverbs are cheaper and disposable. Complicated hydraulics versus simple engineering. The bushings are wearing parts that are simple to replace on the Thomson.
