This could end up being a bargain, if you happen to have a Pinion-ready frame hanging around...

Wonder if I could bodge it in place of a Shimano motor on an ebike frame...

You'd need an adapter, and with the number of different motor mounts I doubt a specific one is available.

Oh and with your entire weight (and more if landing from jumps) going through the mount, it's not something I'd want bodged.

Fyi that listing is missing the 6 bolts needed to mount the gearbox to the frame, and it's the old style shifter. Still a decent price though, new they're £1000 or so.

I'll just dig out this pinion ready frame that I have lying around for just this eventuality*

*said no one ever.

Good for a spare for some-one I guess (being less facetious)

More of a case of, "I'll dodge the 12+month waiting list" (and save off the RRP) I'd have thought.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. If I hadn't just bought a Rohloff instead, I'd have been tempted by this. I even found a Pinion-ready german gravel frame for 850 euro

Thing is though, if you're buying a pinion frame you normally buy it with the gearbox. Although I didn't know there was a waiting list.

You can buy them new here, for instance (in stock, apparently) https://olsenbikes.co.uk/products/p1110

True, but last time I asked a UK custom builder if they were still doing Pinion frames they said not at the moment due to the waiting list

Olsen bought a load when they had them in stock, custom builders didn't so are now having to wait.
