Just sharing the love for these neoprene gaiters. Over xmas knee to foot was constantly covered in wet muddy front wheel spray. These are warm, stretchy, & lap over the chuff on my winter boots. I just take off & leave with the bike in the garage & brush off when dry leaving underneath clean to enter the house & less mud in the washing machine. £17 on amazon.

These look Handy, I have some short pull on ones which seal the tops of waterproof boots or socks which work a treat.
Thanks for the post, I will get some of these. I broke my lower leg at the back end of last summer when a large stone was thrown up from my front wheel on a fast descent. It has been playing on my mind a bit on rides so these will probably help.
They don't appear to overlap the shoe in those photos, does that only work for boots?
And people wear these in public?

I have seen worse:

Totally agree. From the photos they look like an excellent idea shockingly badly executed. Like really badly executed. Worse than a normal gaiter.
Essentially a not very solid shin guard.

Yes, best for boots with a cuff.
I'm sorry - you wear those monstrosities to prevent getting mud on your trouser legs!?
Do they match the hard hat you wear daily incase the sky falls?
lap over the chuff

I love how this starts with someone who's actually used them saying "they work really well", and then there's a bit of pile-on of people who haven't used them saying "they look rubbish, they clearly won't work".
Well, contrary to the general slating, I think they look pretty good, and can see why they'd work well with a pair of winter boots with a cuff, like what mine have, both to keep water from running down the legs into the boot, and to take the worst of the crap that's thrown up from the floor/front wheel (because that's the stuff that ends up on the bathroom floor and/or washing machine).

Oh no they don't. 😁
Go on then, buy a pair and let us know.

Dickie already did, and did, and you said he was wrong.

Loads of people eat at McDonald's Wendy's and think the food is really nice.
Loads of people think brexit is going really well.
Sometimes I form an opinion based on my own views rather than just accepting everything that I am told.

IMHO a key feature of a gaiter is that it covers the opening of the footwear.
I think they look pretty sensible for winter riding. They'd go nicely over the cuff on the fiveten gtx. If they stop your socks soaking up cold water and you don't wear riding trousers, they'd be worth a try. They look no more ridiculous than a knee or elbow pad.
TBF, my winter tights go over my winter boots or overshoes, so creating the same effect.

I thought that, but I think the point is that the winter tights go into the washing machine with all the crap on them, reducing the life of your machine, whereas these can obviously ne left to dry out until the next time you need them
But, they look as if they only go part of the way up the shin, and wouldn't cover the cuff of my winter boots properly, so I'd end up with wet feet AND dirty tights but with a clean area mid-shin.
