Silly cheap Sora HT2 chainsets here:

http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/road-parts/transmission/chainsets-road/shimano-sora-road-chainset.html

even cheaper with quidco (well 3% cashback)

(following on from my earlier thread)

They're basically the same as Tiagra, one of which I've used for 5 years on my CX bike without any problems

Ooh, that is very interesting. Anyone know if they will work with 10 speed?

Yes, they'll be fine with 10 speed.

Ordered one of these, following this thread:

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/road-bike-presumably-this-crankset-will-fit

it arrived this morning. 50T chainrings look massive when not fitted to the bike!!
Will be attempting to fit it at some point this week, just hope the BB thread on the frame is correct...if not, can I get an Italian threaded HTII BB??

Yep but not available in compact unfortunately.

stumpy - yes you can but Italian threads are increasingly rare now, particularly on any new bikes.

Clubber - that's good news. Hoping it is a standard bb on my frame!

Planning on sticking the original crankset on ebay with the sq taper bb. It's done way less than 500 miles, so will hopefully get back a fair chunk of the cost of the new one!
