Was about to say the R2 bike deal is still cheaper at about £360, but with that code...

I get 2% cashback via work and I have £25 to spend through the same scheme.

Edit: that code expired 24th April.

So to play around i put it in my basket, and Honey (the chrome plugin) ran some codes, and dropped it to £375... bargain!

Is there any reason why I couldn't use it with a Deore chainset?

I’m not running SRAM chainsets on any of my AXS bikes. As long as you are running one that supports 12s, you’ll be fine I think.

Cheers @frogstomp so with my work cashback and 25 quid of points (which would otherwise go on Amazon crap) it'd cost me £342.50.

Hmmmm...

Is there any reason why I couldn’t use it with a Deore chainset?

Nope, other than the chain possibly not being fully compatible with the Shimano chainring.

My Turbo Levo came with AXS or would never have purchased it. Bought a used X01 on the back of it from on here and was fitted to daughters Enduro.
Got this in the basket plus a free tree. Have an Eagle cassette and chain spare so when it needs changing it would make sence to swap from 11 to 12 speed on the other Levo at that price.

Well, I can confirm that it's very nice, well built, and makes robot noises that makes me grin like a child.

😁🤣

I hit the buy button and it arrived this morning to work. Surprised that it came with a nice multi tool.

Yeah the tool is a nice touch, it has all you need for the installation.

And a free mug coaster! 😲

Battery is charging, it's already been linked to the app and my Garmin, and firmware update on the RD. Might have to see about the upgraded rocker switch, sits nice on my hope matchmaker clamp but I'll give it a while. I don't have to worry about remembering a mechanical shifter at least, as my other bike has a gripshift...

Yeah, give it a good go.. the upgraded one was out of stock everywhere when I bought mine and the original is second-nature now so I haven't bothered.

I like the original rocker switch same as I like Shimano’s index finger for upshift layout.

I always said £500 would be my biting point for these. And now it's (significantly) under that, I'm getting cold feet.

Is my life going to be THAT much better than with an XO1 setup? Is it just pointless bike jewellery? Will women want to marry me and other men want to be me?

Literally the only thing you gain with AXS X01 is a few grams saved and badge.

Really not worth the extra cash.

Mine is all installed, nice and easy! Only issue is now my front brake hose isn't clipped to anything it's going to wobble about and hit my dropper cable...

Oh where art thou, 200mm reverb AXS?

Ahh, I read it as GX AXS over XO1 AXS.

Is my life going to be THAT much better than with an XO1 setup?

As above, yes. Tbh my GX mech is 2.5 years old and the jockey wheels are fairly wobbly, so would have needed some parts soon anyway.

Other pluses not many mention (aside from the women throwing themselves at you) is, if you're a proper nerd (and let's face it, to buy an electronic wireless rear mech, you already are) you can see what gear you're in on your GPS, no more looking down on that brutal climb hoping you're not in the 50/52t cog already, now you can just glance at your GPS unit to confirm what you already thought. And it even beeps at your when you shift into 1st or 12th! And you can sync it with the AXS desktop app and it should (haven't tested it yet) tell you how much of your ride you spent in each gear, how's many times you shifted, etc etc.

I’m assuming this would work with a 12 speed sram SX level cassette ?

My Kenevo E-bike has a SRAM PG-1130, 11-speed, 11-42t.

Can I fit a 12sp cassette?

Yeah, just get a PG-1230, it's an 11-50t 12sp cassette that uses the same HG fitting as the 1130. I use them on my ebike as they're cheapish (70 quid or less) and you get a few months out of them, they'll mate up with this AXS as well.

That's what we are going to do on the Levo. It's got a 11 speed GX cassette and X1 chain at the moment. Going to fit the 12 speed GX cassette and X01 12 speed chain we have spare. Just need to find out if the chain ring is 12 speed compatible If not its another £20 for a SRAM one.

Thanks. It probably won't get done till mid summer now although it will all go in the camper for holiday just in case spares.

Nope.

Everyone I know who has run it doesn’t any more, due to repeated issues. The only one who still does is because the team he rides for is sponsored by SRAM & he’s told he has to 😆

Have to be honest, i would love to try this, but £375 is still a hell of a lot for a mech and shifter, and just too many things needing to be bought just now, will wait out and see if they get cheaper in a year or two's time, it's just that worry of damage, my current XT is on its last legs due to a few rock strikes and i just never seem able to miss rocks on the trails 😡

Agreed - what issues? I know 5 riders who use it very frequently and none have had issues with the system. Only complaint has been from 1 who admits a replacement mech is eye wateringly expensive and due to that, he'd probably not buy it if it wasn't already on the bike he was buying, but he loves the way it works faultlessly.

Had mine for a year and have done over over 3000 miles of riding on it. It looks a little battered and I've replaced the jockey wheels (after Surrey Hills sand destroyed the bearings), but other than that it's still running perfectly. You can't beat the clean consistent shifting every time, lack of a cable and I personally love the cool robotic sound!

For the first time I forgot to charge the battery on Sunday (I also forgot to charge my spare!) but despite the flashing red with every shift it got me home fine.

It is quite an investment (I got mine for £399) but, in my opinion, I think it's brilliant and was well worth it.

I have AXS on both MTBs and di2 on my Creo. They have been faultless, but.. only once I realised that the slightly fickle indexing, even with new hangers, was down to poor mech alignment, cured by purchasing a hanger alignment tool..
