Frikkin' awesome!

Edit:

Guy also learns about the science of cooking for athletes with the Head of Nutrition at Team Sky, Nigel Mitchell, who instructs Guy to lose five kilos of weight and recommends a new diet regime.

Really? Mr Martin always looks pretty buff when I've seen him.

Nobby : The Musical?

Doom Bar Doom Bar where are you
I like Doom Bar with a meaty Stew
Riding around up Vigo Hill attempting to be quick
Instead mistaking the profile and ending up sick

The dog drags me into the pub again at least thats my excuse
But really its pleasant being a person of limited use
Until the time comes to lend a hand at putting up a tent
Nobby Nobby please don't move to Stoke on Trent!

I'm so excited that I could quite literally explode.

this has taken all year and hopefully the amount of fun we both had making this programme will be conveyed. It really has been the best thing I've ever done.

Let's face it, there's been nothing to please that demographic since Last Of The Summer Wine was cancelled.

EDIT-
Bugger, beaten by a policeman.
I'll speak to my brief.

@terrahawk Suddenly all that 'great fun that you couldnt speak about' and recumbent cycling in Wigan all makes sense!

I'm currently reading his autobiography - any chance that you could get him to sign it? Its the kindle version so i can just email it over... ๐Ÿ˜€

Considering terrahawk wupped his arse at Strathpuffer, he must be a little embarrassed to call it 'Speed with Guy Martin'!

Mind you 'Speed with Terrahawk' conjures up some odd mental images!

Maybe 'Terrahawk on Speed' would have been a better title...

they would have had to have filmed me 26 or so years ago for that.

He seems like a good bloke, but for the previous records I couldn't help but think that if there'd been even some attempt to find a decent club cyclist (at least for the HPA and bike speed efforts) then they'd likely have fared better. That said, I guess it's really just about television, not some outright attempt for the best possible record, and he does make good TV.

Recumbents!

I used to race recumbents and know both Mike Burrows and Miles Kingsbury. To cut a long story short, recumbents are faster. An unfaired one will give you a small gain over a normal bike, say 3 to 4 mph. Smoothing out the airflow behind gives a decent gain, you're now 10 mph faster. Bolt on a nose cone for another 5 mph. The real slick streamliners are fast as f@ck. At the World Champs in 96 on a 30k time trial I was doing a steady 28 mph on my unfaired bike, the top riders on full streamliners were cruising over 60.
