Their size guide suggests large for 5'7 up, based on a quick look at the geo it's probably the better option, certainly the first size I would look at being 5'10

I would have thought medium is a better size for 5-9. Thats the size i get.

Hmm, the other week I hired a Whyte T140 in a medium, fit like a glove. But are Cannondale a bit more conservative on sizing?

Ordered a pair of hellcats and freerider eps on thursday morning - great PSA

Hellcats dispatched separately last night, anyone had a set of Freerider eps delivered/dispatched yet.

Best to get hold of both the geometry charts and have a look. Or just see if they’re both on geometrygeeks

Looks like there will be some more good deals coming up as all these five tens look in stock in all sizes.

Hey @bentudder.

They were from Bike 24. All delivered fine with no customs issues despite from the EU. 👍

Trailcross have arrived. Think 11.5 was the correct choice especially with thicker socks. (11.5 being my five-ten size, 11 my civilian size)

The green is lighter in the flesh than the photos. Hopefully still better than black which shows every fleck of dirt and therefore look permanently filthy.

One ride in and I don't think my green ones will ever look clean again after a good dousing of black loam water

Current freeriders are 10.5 and fit fine, I went up to an 11 and both the hellcats and EPS freeriders feel too small! It'll be less of a bargain after two lots of postage and returns...

The question is do I go up to 11.5 or 12? Does anyone elses shoes come in tighter than usual?

I got my shipped email from Evans 2 days after my order actually arrived. There's some communication issues with Evans.

Hope those that ordered the Trek Rail have better luck than me. Dented top tube and deep scratch under the downtube where they forced the forks around for shipping. Gutted to say the least.

IIRC for me it's...

Freeriders - as per civvy shoes
EPS - up one size
Freerider Pro - up 1.5 sizes

Oh no.

Maybe they'll give you 50% off your 50% off bike for that though?

Just nipped to my mates and his 12.5 hellcats didn't even feel huge so went up to a 12 for them both.

Confirmation email received; "view your order" draws a blank; no contact details on the website - how are you supposed to get in touch with Evans, or is that deliberate?

@roger_mellie if you go on the contact us page during the day they have a chat bot that can put you on to customer services.  Can’t see a phone number anywhere mind.

Offered a refund which still fills me with dread as it means sending it back to them and hoping they don’t lose it. Glad I paid on CC.

they did say they could possibly offer a gift card with some compensation. Being how deep the dent is I’ve declined. FYI the box looked fine. There was also pipe lagging over the top tube. My feeling is it got dented at the warehouse while being transferred from the trek box into the Evans box.

still pee’d off about it.

My Sleuth DLXs arrived yesterday. I don't run flats but for £40 they'll make good everyday trainers.

Thanks for the PSA

Same, order placed last week a few hours after this thread started.

After a bit of bot interaction (less fun than it possibly sounds) I got to "we've started processing your order and will keep you updated as it proceeds..."

hmmmm

@warfedale Rail arrived today. Let’s just say the box did its job (nearly) and no more. Was in an absolute state when it arrived, holes torn into it all over, top ripped off, side undone. Smaller boxes and bits falling out of the main box as the delivery driver dragged it down the drive. I was dreading what I was going to find inside. Remarkably though, it was’nt bad. A tiny (<5mm) scratch in the down tube, the seat was scuffed (I expect this to be replaced) but other than that, it was fine. Genuinely amazed given how ****ed the box was. However the biggest frustration is that the keys for the battery were missing. ☹️. Where were your keys on arrival? I’m assuming in a bag with the Trek info…. Evans looking into it, and not the end of the world but would be handy to have for trips away.

I don't blame Evans for that but how couriers get away with that is beyond me

Evans partly to blame: the box it arrived in was made up of two boxes taped together and had predictably not held up well. The delivery guy at least marked it as ‘box damaged’.

@stingmered glad yours was in better condition than mine. My box in fairness was 99% intact, no big rips etc. I still think mine had been damaged in the warehouse being there was thick pipe lagging over the top tube.

My keys were fastened to the handlebars with an elastic band. They are Abus keys. There was a tag that allowed you to order replacements. Maybe have a look and see if there is a number on the lock and speak to Abus. You can build a decent case being you have the bike and a receipt.

My Rail has now been collected and I'm waiting on a refund. I managed to get a good deal on a Levo alloy comp from Evans, albeit at another £1000 over the Rail. This time I've gone for the collect from store option. I'm told the bikes go direct to the shop as they come from the distributor. Fingers crossed this one is right.

i ordered some shoes, status has been "waiting for courier collection" for a week now. Contacted Evans this morning via chat and was told that my order was in store ready for collection. A minute later I received a ready for collection email.

I now have a trip into Keighley to look forward to 😱

I think you were told right. I went to collect my Diverge yesterday and asked for a box so I could ship the old one. The boxes they had were the enormous type where the bike arrives pretty much fully assembled. Shop had done the final fettling and PDI.

Well, apart from all the immediate stuff I did on it that evening, NBD pics to follow later. Been a great PSA this, nearly a grand off the RRP!

Yeah, none of that. The key/lock code is apparently written on the lock but of course you need to remove the battery first. However, I've since realised that the lock is part of Bosch's supply, not Trek's, and in the little Bosch booklet included it's got all the codes/serial numbers listed for the motor, battery etc... inc the key number! BONUS!

So, I'll order a key myself as the chances of Evans sorting out it efficiently and competently are approaching zero. However, they still owe me two keys and a new saddle!

@wharfedale - glad you got sorted out with a new ride. It's a shame it cost you more. Only been out on the Rail once but it was an absolute hoot!

Thanks for the PSA, three pairs of five tens ordered last week, that I really didn’t need, but 3 for £120 is a bargain. The trail cross shoes are nice. Mine all turned up in the post a few days after ordering.

Still never got my 510s.... Multiple emails to Evans

"due to a computer error we can't sell/pick them and don't know if we ever will, i think it's best to cancel"

Was their reply... so they got cancelled.

2 weeks later... No contact at all from Evans apart from sales spam. I dropped into the shop and they had one pair of shoes sitting on the shelf. I had to call customer services to find out where the other ones where. Mistakenly delivered to the wrong shop and there's nothing they can do about it but cancel and re-order.

At this point the excitement is over so I'll make do with the new Trailcross Mids and accept a refund for the Freeriders.

It's a shambles!

The nice woman on the phone did give me a £15 voucher so I went straight back to the shop and bought a half price Fox helmet for £25. Cheapest lid I've ever had.

Hmmm. Well I have some 44.7 Freeriders stalled somewhere in the system and a pair of 44s to send back.

Not feeling confident about the return...anyone want these  https://www.evanscycles.com/brand/five-ten/freerider-eps-mountain-bike-shoes-140149#colcode=14014903 for £52 before I enter the return lottery?

On the flip side my Impact Pro Sam Hills arrived fine. They are big chunky beasts vs my old freerider pros but they seemed comfy on the weekend and they gripped to the pedals like poo to carpet. <br /><br />

Reckon they’re going to run fairly hot so ideal timing now going into autumn / winter. Might clean up my old freerider pros and keep them for next summer. They’ve seen better days but in dry weather they should be ok still.
