I probably would have straight up bought one if they were the modern ones. I don't care if they weigh as much as a boat anchor, I've always wanted one. Same reason I bought an intense years ago.

The 2017 reworked frames mainly got rid of the seat tube/down tube brace and seat tube/top tube braces (where the Spitfires used to crack a lot) and used a lot more hydroforming. Runes and Primes had larger tubes in these areas with flaring, and didn't seam to suffer the same fate.

If there had been an XL I'd of probably bought a spare.

The raw ones look sweet and the stated weights seem fair, if not light.

If I didn't already have an awesome short travel 29er I might have been tempted by a large Phantom. The seat tube length would allow sizing up.

those are bloomin good deals (all V2's). I've got a Spitty, and yes they changed the tubing and shock mount bracing to stop some cracking (i had this). They are fantastic bikes to ride. If you're not fussed having the very latest model, then these are a bargain!

Yeah, about that. They still cracked. I've got 2 frames on the garage wall before the warranty ran out.
Got a crash replacement Rune V3 after that & I must say, it's a lot better.

Don't suppose anyone has a rear triangle for a rune as my mate has recently broken his?

How much are they advertised for ?

I've a V2 spitfire and would be tempted by a v3 in the future - how are you finding it better - apart from the non cracking thing.

As a non-cracking v2 2017 Prime user, I'm also interested to hear about the V3 stuff.

They're all just above or just below £1k.

My 2014 v1 Spitfire didn't crack but I did get paranoid so when a good deal on a used 2017 v2 in a size larger popped up I swapped to that. Sadly the Levo ousted that - my brain couldn't handle having three MTBs and I do like having a hardtail.

I'm also tempted by a V3 Prime or Titan, Dirt Merchants in Colorado have them in stock at $2000 for a frame (no shock) inc UK delivery which I didnt think was bad.

I presume these sports direct frames are part of Isons stock dumping now Banshee have gone for direct sales?

Gotta say I love my V1 Prime. Not cracked (yet) in 6-years and counting. Probably just jinxed that, but then again I'm a complete mincer, so i guess it's not had too much strain put on it.

Can confirm what others have said about being amazing riding bikes though.

I'm finding I'm climbing a gear or 2 higher on the Rune, despite being 1kg heavier than my V2.5 Spitfire.The steeper seat angle probably helps there.
The Spitfire was no better than the SB66 it replaced. The V3 Rune however, is a completely different level.

For anyone interested the V3 frames have just landed in the UK and I will hopefully be getting them online this weekend, but can take orders already.

The old ones did have some issues for sure, hopefully Banshee don't mind me going into it a bit. Pre 2015 seemed mostly solid, then for MY15 after 1-2 years of riding we saw a decent amount of cracks at the brace weld points. As above - usually only on the shorter travel versions. Combination of them getting pushed a bit harder for lighter tubing and methods of welding. For 17 they introduced the hydroformed top and down tubes, but also invested in new frame jigs to help alignment in production. Pretty sure we got none of these frames back. The V3 frames look amazing, same use of hydroformed tubing to reduce the weld points and really well thought out design. The warranty is also much longer if you register with Banshee 🙂

Someone stop me building a 29+ V3 Prime 🤣
