I have one on a Hope wheel ... which I could replace with a Shimano one. Or I could find a rear cassette that is compatible - and works with Shimano changers etc ...
But I cannot find anything - SRAM stuff all starts at 10- whatever, I am currently running 11-50 SunRace.
Any suggestions - or just change to a Shimano freehub?

That's the point of XD. It enables 10t which is an 'advantage'. Swap to Shimano if you want to run your sunrace cassette.

It's an advantage - but then affects chain length etc ....
It also seems to be a design built to seize ....

Thanks

There's zero difference in chain length between 10-42 and 11-42. Compared to 11-46 (which has less range) it might be one link. Which is only a good thing.

As for seiizng - if you grease the splines and threads (as per the instructions) before fitting, they won't seize

I could never get a Hope xd to not seize, regardless of torque or grease
