Currently having a right battle getting eliminator 2.6 on my rim. Shockingly tight bead. Not helped by trying to put on with Planet X foam insets but I have managed the rear butcher DH2.5 but that has been on before.

Mounted rear 2.6 29er Butcher on 29mm rim with Rimpact liner ok last night. Doing the front with 2.6 Hillbilly later.
Trick for me is to push bead down side of liner after first bead is mounted but I’m getting the feeling there isn’t much room with the PX ones.
I haven't measured mine but I've got a new 2.4 Michelin on a 30mm rim. Side by side it looks exactly the same width as my 2.6 Butcher and Hillbilly on 35mm Hope rims.
The only difference is in the height. The Spesh is about 10mm taller than the Michelin.
Used the hill Billy 2.6 today at my local. H excellent tyre and not as aggressive as I thought it was, could probably use in more just mud. Also got eliminator and butcher.

Must vary by rim, I put one on a Spank Spike Race 33 yesterday no problem even with a rimpact insert in there

So I'm going with eliminator front a I read a good review of it on there, but it's more closely spaced than a butcher so hopefully predominantly dry in the alps! It also doesn't look v wide - not measured but certainly no where near 2.6 I'd say.
Is there an idiots guide to specialized tyres like trek and Maxxis have because I can’t work out their descriptions. Ideally want xc spring autumn tyres, thanks

I had trouble with my Rimpacts the first time - until I read the instructions and pushed the beads right down towards the centre of the rim!

The side knobs are fractionally closer spaced than the Butcher but I think the centre knobs look better for soft ground, being smaller and spikier.

I’m curious to know what it measures! My new Eliminator 29x2.3 is 60mm at the tread (maybe 60.5) and 59mm at the casing (maybe 58.5). So the very narrowest measurement is 2.30” and the widest 2.38”.
Have Specialized managed to make a 2.3” and 2.6” tyre that are essentially the same size?!!
Not measured the 2.6 eliminator as I can't find my calipers but it's bigger than a 2.35 magic Mary and bigger than a 2.5 WT Dhf minion. Much bigger and mud clearance might be an issue.(Non Boost Mattoc).

No, I don’t think so. I have (27.5) 2.3 Butcher and Slaughter and now 2.6 Eliminator and Slaughter. The 2.6 is a bigger tyre with bigger volume BUT to a large degree the extra volume appears to be in added height rather than width. I will measure them both, currently on 28mm internal Spank rims, if I remember but they don’t appear to be very much wider than the 2.3, I’d guess I’m going to find they are around 2.4 maybe a touch more

Doesn’t look it to me but my 2.5WT DHF is on a wider rim, 32mm v 28mm
On a Hope 35w, the 2.6 butcher is bigger than a 2.6 hillbilly. A 2.6 DHF is bigger than the butcher.

Only just bought my bike but have now ordered two more 2.6 Butchers for when they need replacing.
A bit daft... but I do love a bargain.
The butcher 2.6 is pretty much the same width as minion dhf 2.5wt which I have on another bike. Not sure on height though. Minion rubber is a lot softer. Hill Billy 2.6 slightly narrower.
Recent convert to Specialized rubber and have been really impressed with a HillBilly/Butcher combo, grip is good and roll better then similar options from Schwalbe.
Shame there aren't more BLK DMND options in the sale as I don't think the Grid casing is quite up to the task unfortunately , would like to try some faster rolling options out though.
While I was impressed with the Butcher on the rear of the bike, I found with the Grid casing it needed more pressure than a 2.4 HR2 to stop it feeling like it was folding over. Then at BPW in April it failed where the bead meets the sidewall. Enough to lose pressure on Insufficient Funds and not seal with the latex.
Now running a Michelin Wild Enduro 2.4 and rather impressed so far.
Not much left on there now! Any thoughts on Purgatory F&R for general use tyre? Mainly Surrey Hills, won't bother swapping out for wet and dry.
I'll probably go DHF if I don't get these.
I’ve got a spare unused Butcher Grid 29x2.6 if anyone wants one.
Not from this sale, it came off the front of my Levo when new (put a Hillbilly there) and was kept as a back-up (until I bought an Eliminator).
Mounted eliminator and it’s measuring 2.5 on my early gen light bicycle rims.
Unfortunately the older dh butcher is leaking massively from the bead/sidewall join as mentioned by someone above so I e just used this psa to order a butcher blk dmnd.
Looks like Grid casing is being replaced by Grid Trail looking at the front page review.
Butcher 2.6 looks to be about 100g heavier in the new casing so puts them in quite a good spot for me as a tough'ish rear.
ordered mine last Wednesday but haven't got them yet
signed for as delivered Friday am at 6:50, signed by direct trunk Enfield which had me worried but apparently its part of DPD.
DPD have not delivered them, specialized are chasing them up... 3 days so far and no joy.
the worst thing is my delivery address is directly opposite where the tyres are being "held" by DPD, they could just throw them over the wall ffs.
gutted as im going to glentress Saturday and they were supposed to be back up tyres

Had a few delivery to the local specialised shop and picked them up today.
I've been impressed by the blk diamond butchers on uplift days and by the grid on the front.
Stuck on my Eliminator/Purgatory combo tonight, both 27.5x2.6 - Purgatory rear was tighter and sealed with just a track pump (no sealant yet), Eliminator front has a tube in it to let it stretch for a few days.
Initial measured widths are:
Eliminator - 61mm knobs, 62mm casing
Purgatory - 62mm knobs, 64mm casing
Was hoping the Eliminator would be wider, which is annoying but will see how they go at the weekend. Both on DT Swiss 30mm internal M501s.
