PSA - 170-200mm adjustable dropper for £55

[#12629874]

Trans-X +rad dropper post. The drop is manually adjustable from 170-200mm.

Looks very similar in design to the Brand X droppers (I suspect it uses the same cartridge system).
No lever, I guess most people will have one that will work already.
Only 30.9 diameter, but a decent shim will sort that out if you need 31.6.

I got one of these a while back at its great, just works no drama. £70 at the time which I thought was a bargain.

Tranz X and brand X are made by the same company, and the cable/mechanism on this is identical to the brand X droppers.

The adjustable travel is really easy once you figure it out. This has come in very handy on the hardtail with the kids ride shotgun seat attached, as we can just adjust between me and my wife's seat height easily.

I posted the PSA, and then thought 'sod it's and ordered one 😁 it'll go well on my new Blue Pig frame.

They also gave me a £5 off code to give to friends. So use this and it's only £50!

Does anyone know if this is a sealed air cartridge?

I wonder if this will replace the current Brand X model.

Nice one, thanks! I ordered a Bird Aether 9c recently and ideally would have chosen a 170mm dropper, but only 150mm was available so this is perfect 🙂

It is a Brand X. Or they come from the same third party factory. I got mine 3 weeks ago and couldn't believe how cheap is was at £65. At £50 it's ridiculous. Or perhaps pay 5 times the price for a Reverb and get a free remote.
I strongly suggest a Shimano MT500 lever to go with it too at £23.

Well I couldn't make your £5 voucher work, Tom, but I ordered anyway. £55 seemed already silly cheap so they can keep my extra fiver.

I've got a 170 brand x at the mo and I'm quite keen on another 10-20mm, or as far as I can go before tyre hits saddle, which isn't very far, so this is a nice way to find the optimum size, albeit needing a shim.

Had an email from Royal Mail this morning to say they have my parcel, so looks like it's been sent. How long it takes to get from Northampton to Kent is another matter.

I have an email dated the 28th Nov saying they were dispatching it to royal mail. It has an RM tracking number for 48hr tracked, but when i use that no in RM site it says its being dispatched to RM.

The post strikes arent helping, butbit all seems a bit flakey if RM hqvnt received it yet.

My royal mail tracking number said it was in Birmingham or Northampton (can't remember) a couple of days ago. It now says at the local hub, so just RM slowing it down.

Same here, few days of nothing showing and it's now at my local hub.

Seems they were a bit slow sending, and strikes this week too.

Ordered mine on the 28th too, and also had a tracking number that so far has showed the parcel as not received by RM. But just had an email from RM to say they've received it but it might take longer to get here because of the "current disruption". I was kind of expecting that, so not worried at the moment.

Mine just turned up 😁
The travel adjustment is ridiculously easy and straight forward. Makes you wonder why they aren't all like that!

As above, just in a bag, no cable or lever, etc. but for £55 you can't complain. Looks and feels exactly like a Brand X post.

Got home last night to find it delivered. Simple packaging as others have said, but in good nick. The Indexing on the travel adjust looks dead easy to set up.
Just need to see if it'll fit and that my wheel doesn't foul it when at full travel!

Just had my old dropper out to check if this one fits in the seattube. Watching the last two inches of post slide into the open mouth of the seattube was... well, it was quite a feeling 🤣

Just need to order a shim now.

£4 for a Brand X shim here.

They didn't charge me for delivery.

Nice aluminium shim that fitted perfectly.

I prefer the USE ones as they're a full 100mm long....as much length as possible is important with a shim.
I'm sure the 80mm one is fine though 👍

I really don't know why they make them shorter... making them 20mm shorter must save fractions of a penny in manufacturing.

TBH I'd probably buy an 80mm for 40% of the price, but the reviews on wiggle put me off the Brand X one.

I cut mine down to 72mm to save weight.

Anyone able to confirm weight of the dropper? Just dropper no lever or cables. Never sure what the quoted weight does or doesn’t include, a real life weight be handy.
