Exercise (even in winter) and spicy food all make me sweat more than anyone else I'm with. It's even slightly spoilt the glorious recent weather for me.
What's the best way of dealing with it whilst exercising?
On the bike if I'm going slow or stop I become it literally runs off me in a constant stream. It's also very salty which combined with contact lenses means I'm often temporarily blinded and it irritates my skin. I've tried a Sweat Gutr (not effective and looks odd), Head Sweats Super Duty (OK but gets overloaded), summer buff (OK but bulky), and cap with terry band (OK but cap at sides which sweat runs down).
This ****ing weather can **** right off.
Oh sweating, as you were.
I only have to think about exercise and I'm sweating like a melting candle. My only tip of note is that wiping a smear of vaseline across/in the top of my eyebrows diverts the majority of sweat away from my eye's and contact lenses. Equally I tend to wash any products from my hair pre ride to reduce any potential irritation.
I know, I'm vile....... kill me now 😌😕
I sweat a lot. Always have, and on a hot day, like you, if I'm out on my bike and tip my head forward to duck under a branch or something, a gush of sweat comes off me like someone's just tipped a glass of water over my head.
In the gym I use a towel, on the bike I just drip everywhere. More of an issue if I'm in a shirt/jacket in the middle east where I literally arrive at work in the shape of a puddle on the floor 🙂
Buff for me, does a good job of soaking up sweat and evaporating it and protecting me from the insects that fly into my helmet.
I use a strip of Buff type stuff to cover my gradually expanding forehead,, you can get the cheap ones and cut them up into about 3 bands that aren't bulky or too hot.
About a 2 inch strip of buff as a head band under the helmet worked to keep the sweat out of my eyes most of the time this weekend. When it gets too saturated wring it out spin it round in the air a bit and it's nice and cool to go back on.
yep, I use a buff under me helmet :-O have it sitting just above my eyes to catch the sweat.... works OK but not great, also wear gloves with fitted sweat patch to catch the rest of the sweat....
Giro helmet pads are actually quite good.
I sweat a lot, and the helmet catches a lot of it, so much so that it needs the occasional squeeze to get rid of some.
I've tried caps and buffs and whatever, it just makes my head hotter.
I had wondered about using a 1970s style terry towelling wristband for easy wiping. The one on my gloves get overloaded quickly.
Full buff under the lid , bit hot at first then nice and wet/ cool . I have it hanging out the back so the sweat flows down and not into my eyes .
I'm a foul sweaty beast.
Halo sweatband under my bike lid keeps it from streaming into my eyes. You can't really see it with a helmet on, which is good because I'd look like an absolute roaster otherwise!
Another one for the cut down buff here. Works great at keeping the sweat/suncream mix out of my eyes and lenses. The other thing I do it soak it cold water when passing streams. I help keep my head and back of neck cooler.
I've had to stop on most commutes home lately as I get sweat dripping into my eyes which makes my contacts sting like f and I just want to keep my eyes closed (not good on a busy road). Think I'll try the vaseline trick - I found Buffs just made me sweat quicker and it still ran off into my eyes once saturated.
Botox is worth considering if its bad enough to limit rides etc
modern culture and youth of today i am afraid - sat on the bus yesterday (awaiting new car to arrive) the language being used would make a soldier blush...some words i did not even understand....................errrrrr sweating........sorry misread.
I'll also try the vaseline trick and I've ordered a Halo headband.
Much cooler this morning so rode with nothing and still got sweat dripping into by glasses
Helmet choice can influence it too. I had a new and very comfy TLD A2 that I sold a month or so back after a couple of tries as it was just too hot and drippy. In same conditions my Spesh Ambush hardly drips at all.
I've tried the Vaseline tip, I ended up with sweat and Vaseline in my eyes!
My latest Bontrager Lithos helmet has a "no sweat" pad. Basically a silicon strip on the forehead part of the pad, it works really well to keep the sweat out of my eyes.
Back in the 90s I had some shades (Scott maybe) that had a sponge strip along the brow part. It was really good for stopping sweat going into the eyes... not seen anything like them since!
My Garneau commuting helmet does a good job of soaking it up - when I stop I squeeze the front against my forehead and it's like a waterfall. The ladeez love it 😆

+1
Heavy sweater here too. I feel for all your girlfriends 😉
Has anyone noticed if those helmets made from drinking straws are better for us types? Eg the smith or endura ones. Not sure evaporation really has a chance to do anything the amount I sweat.

My Adidas Evil Eye Pros have a detachable brow sponge but they don't fit my face close enough for it to work
Strip of buff works for me here but only up to a point. No other solution I'm afraid.
I’ll challenge anyone of you to a sweating competition. In the current weather I get home and take my riding kit off on the patio before diving into a cool shower. When I get back to my kit there is a puddle under the pile of clothing. I reckon I could fill a tablespoon measure with sweat about every thirty seconds mid ride and I always leave an arse-shaped sweat patch on the pub seats after a ride.
I reckon the low profile, high absorbency headband might be a go-er. I also have a buff around my wrist, and occasionally a spare for halfway round. Mostly I just put up with it, but if I’m about to ride a nice bit of descending trail I will take my helmet off and wipe the buff all around my head to buy me about a minute of comparative dryness. My sweat seems very dilute, though, so contact lenses aren’t too much of an issue, but after a while my eyes do sting with all the sweat running into them. I try to wash my hair the night before weekend rides so there is no ‘hair product’ to run into my eyes.
Other than this, I think you’ve just got to put up with it.
No, really - Halo sweatband under my lid does the trick...
That rubbery band seals it up enough and channels all the sweat away from my face and off to the side - it's problem solved. Honest!
Well FWIW I tried the vaseline thing and my sweat just found a way round it, so I got a halo headband and so far (4 rides in, but some pretty hot ones) I've not had a problem. I took it off after this morning's commute and wrung out a smull puddle from it, but no stinging eyes.
I also got a Halo band, probably not a fair test as this week has been even hotter but it hasn't coped any better than the Head Sweats I had before. The sweat on the front of my forehead doesn't cause an issue, it's the sweat that runs down from my temples. This is road rides and gravel rides, I'm sure the slower pace of MTB would make it worse.
is it not a good sign your body is working well? I hardly sweat and when I do I dont feel great.

Just got a forefront for this reason, seems an improvement so far but only really done one proper ride with it, it's distinctly cooler at slower speeds (such as grunting up a hill) and standing than my previous helmets but doesn't channel air as well at speed.
As a result of being cooler i didn't notice as much sweating and the pad seems pretty good at not getting saturated and allowing a slow drip on the side of my head as opposed saturating then pouring sweat down my forehead in a "cloud burst" type way.
The pad still wringing out every half hour or so.
Only used three lens cloths on a 6 hour ride which is a distinct improvement.
More importantly though the colour is a better match for my bike.
I like the buff idea and will give that a try too though.
just be careful to dry your helmet pads and straps off in this weather, the sweat can rot through them in no time.
I sweat loads on a ride so I wear a buff under my helmet and carry a bar towel hooked into a loop on my back pack strap. Just the right size. I've had a few "is that your w***k rag" comments from mates. It works well for mopping up while riding.
I’ll challenge anyone of you to a sweating competition
You're on! Me and my brother just sweat from talking to someone. I think it's the jaw activity.
For cooling down after a ride, I bought one of those cooling towels. What a blimmin lovely thing. I reckon I stop sweating after an hour now, instead of 3 hours.
