Bit of a dumb ass question, lost touch, I want to convert from a 3x9 to a 1x10 then eventually 1x11. My rear hub is a hope XC quite old, to avoid a new hub, wheel build at this time can I fit a 10spd cassette, I also guess I will need a clutch rear mech. I will eventually get a new rear wheel built for a 1x11. Any other advice welcome.

Why not 1 x 9 as a stop gap - Sunrace 11-42 9spd cassette and a 30t ring from uberbike. I haven't needed a clutch rear mech (running an old slx shadow).

9, 10 and 11 speed all use the same freehub, there's no need for a new hub at all
