Grrr I dislike the bazillion headset standards we currently have, my new/replacement frame is 50mm OD head tube and I use standard 1 1/8" forks so will this do?
Specs say
Top cover Ø28.6x50mm CNC alloy 6061T6
Cups Ø44x50mm CNC alloy 6061T6
Crown race 30mm CNC alloy 7075T6
So I presume that's right.

bike brochure says New 50mm OD Zero Stack Headtube and the token does look very low stack height but all the pics I've seen of the bike built up seem to have external bearing lower cup.

Either way anyone got better inexpensive alternatives? Something that would be an easy swap if I upgraded to tapered forks would be nice too.

Sounds right.

Cheaper than £15? Seriously?

The inner diameter of the head tube is the important bit for a headset, I'd have thought.

Sounds / looks right, semi-integrated for 44mm ID HT and std steerer.

all the pics I've seen of the bike built up seem to have external bearing lower cup.
Prob using a taper steerer with the XX44 style lower cup/bearing? If so check your fork top caps clear the DT when using a semi-integrated as it'll have about 10mm less lower stack height.

sorry, "better (comma) inexpensive", doesn't have to be cheaper than this one, just no-one mention CK. Hope do a pik n match (so good if I want to go tapered) would be at the very limit of my budget do a 49.something mm which I guess wouldn't fit...? dunno tho

The inner diameter of the head tube is the important bit for a headset, I'd have thought.
I'm pretty sure the headset OD is 50mm not the headtube but "OD50" if that is the name, is a new one on me.

XX44?!!!!111! argh!

is xx44 a different standard? presumably that would be for a "44OD"* headtube. From a very quick google I can't tell.

Bugger didn't think about topcap/DT interface cheers for the reminder. It's got a [s]wonky[/s] shaped downtube to hopefully should be ok. It's an altitude 70 see here if you're interested, p16.

*again OD is the headset OD not headtube

Yes, that headset is the one you need if the ID of the headtube is 44mm.

In most cases zero stack headsets are 44mmID and 50mmOD.

Been into a bike shop who measured it, 43.95mm head tube ID which is apparently reasonably common, so **** knows why they called it 50od when the head tube can eb as thick/thin as you prefer or your gnar requires Shirley it's the ID of the head tube and the OD of the headset that counts, none of which are 50mm in this case. Bloody stupid "standards", bike shop guy said trek have their very own headset size that no-one else uses, awesome!
