is the procaliber lighter than the superfly sl?

im assuming the only difference in the frame is the colour?
Some companies filter them as they come off the production line, so the natural +/- 50g variation in frames gets split between the cheapest builds and the lightest go to the frame only top of the range builds.

No, 900g for a Superfly SL, 1050g for Procaliber.

Yes, was quite a good name back in the day. Seems a bit rubbish now.

The superfly gives a lot of flex from the seatpost already so not sure the procaliber makes much sense if heavier.

Seat post diameter hasn't changed, so it'll still have that comfort, plus a bit. Superfly hasn't been discontinued AFAIK.

Frames are quite light too, significantly lighter than my Superfly. Tempted to swap

Add to that the weight and hassle of changing hubs ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Going to demo one soon but having a few 'normal' wheelsets it is doubtful I will be getting one, which is a pity as would be a good complement to the superfly FS I currently race on.

I don't know the answer, but it might be worth getting a definitive answer from hub manufacturers as to conversion possibilities. A quick Google suggests it can be done in theory but it's too new for anything to be on the market. I can't quite get my head around if an adapter or new end caps would work or not but it might be worth some investigation

Great photos, good to see:

1) Decent quality photos of an XC race
2) Pinkbike doing XC
3) The readership of Pinkbike showing a good amount of knowledge and enthusiasm for XC

Good going from Alice Barnes, shame that Grant Ferguson had mechanical issues.

Good race, enjoyable to watch. Haven't watched the womens yet.

Was anyone else counting the dropper posts in the race yesterday? A good number of riders outside the top 20 seem to be using them now. I suppose the guys at the front have the clear track/massive skills advantage, so don't need them.

Some nice pics from MSA in the article.

Bit confused with the new treks, does the return of the top fuel mean there will be no more Superfly FS ??

Sold my gnar bike and been borrowing an XC race bike which is too big for me and has silly skinny tyres and I keep going over the bars but it is great fun on the local trails with much less of a speed disadvantage on the downs (at my slow speed) than I thought so considering getting a much shorter travel bike this year...

The new Top Fuel is the replacement for the Superfly.

Does it? All I've seen is statements that it replaces the superfly "at the top of the range", not that the superfly is canned.

Really good race to watch that, nice and close. Gutted for manual fumic not to hold on for a win. Great to see Dan McConnell have a good result.

Real shame Annie last punctured in the womens race

What's with the seat post?

According to the Pinkbike article it's a homemade dropper ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Mathias Fluckiger's home-designed and built dropper post is inverted in order to fit the frame's 27.2-millimeter seat tube. The drop is only 4.5 centimeters, but that is more than enough to provide a handling boost in the technical sections of the course. It is said to weigh only 230 grams. Will be see a production version of this dropper in the future?

at least pinkbike are making an effort, STW's effort at covering the Worlds, at least for the XC appear to be screen grabs of redbull.tv ๐Ÿ˜†

The advantage of electric gears? your can run a left instead of a right hand shifter.

Bike Ahead most likely. Sub 1.2kg wheels with a EUR 3k+ price tag.

I have one going spare. I've had about 2 rides on it and decided it hasn't changed my life enough...

Or wanting the shifter next to a front/back brake? <delete as applicable to your preference and UK/Euro brake set-up.

That Haibike needs riser bars and bar ends to go full Euro. Also, no idea how they managed to make an SRM look so damned fugly
