Scale 2014, bb92 removed cranks as bb was stiff and drive side press fit cup came out on crank arm, other side needed a tap but came out very easily. New like for like shimano bb doesn't "press" in, it can be moved side to side a small amount. Tried loctite 641 but it seems it isn't tight enough fit to cure.
I've seen some references to bbs that screw together in the middle, kcnc, maybe hope, not sure about chris king?
Some one else must have had this issue, how did you sort it? Have you used any off the above bbs okay? I've also read about Teflon tape to take up the slack.
Shimano cranks.
Id be exploring the avenues around a faulty frame myself. That doesn't sound right. Had this with a trek frame for a customer recently and trek replaced the frame.
Hmm, just checked scott have a 5 year warranty. Would there be a problem with the fact I removed the crank myself rather than LBS, I mean at the end of the day it is 2 Allen bolts, a cover a a tap with a mallet.
Can press fit bbs go 'baggy' over time?
Thinking about it, this is the first time the crank has been removed, so it might have always been like it
I successfully got a Scott Scale frame replaced due to this issue a couple of years back, the cup was undersized and frame slightly oversized which caused the frame to ovalize slightly over time, it would then no longer take a b/b.
Having said that my mate then bought the frame off Scott and bonded permanently a hope screw together press fit b/b into it as the bearings can be replaced in those without cup removal from frame.
Thanks for the info, I'll see what my LBS has to say, good to know that a hope bb could resolve the issue if it isn't a warranty. Just did a complete strip and rebuild too, if it is a frame replacement a waste of 2 days graft ๐
