We have a Garmin Edge 810 and an Edge 520. They take a mini and micro usb respectively.

We need a power only cable for both these items, so we can charge them as we ride, without them going into 'connect mode'and stopping recording.

Can anyone recommend a UK seller for these items?

thanks

Ian

An 810 can be used whilst charging on a normal cable. Don't know about the 520

The 520 will also charge only with a normal cable.

Look for OTG (on the go) cables. I see you've asked the same question on Bearbones, Chris has answered similarly.

If you are handy with a soldering iron you can "convert" a standard USB to an OTG one.

Edit: you might want to get an "up angle" micro USB cable - less likely to interfere with any mounts.

Can you not use a standard cable and disable Bluetooth on your phone to stop it trying to connect??

sorry, some testing here shows that i plug a power source in an out of the 520 without it affecting what its doing.

On my 810, when i unplug the external power it gives me a 15s warning of a shutdown, which i can cancel from the screen. So it appears all is well. I have tried to disable the auto shutdown, bu it doesnt seem to affect this function.

thanks

Ian
