Can you powdercoat a frame in clear ?

When using paint the job is finished with a laquor / clear coat.
Can the same be done in powdercoat.

Have a frame that I want blasted and cleaned, as it's alu, I just want a protective coating pref using powdercoat ?

Any ideas ?

Yes powder clearcoat / lacquer is really common however as you have an alloy frame you could just have it painted and give it a buff every now and again, heres my old 223 for inspiration;

IFRC powder lacquer comes out quite thick.
A nice two-pack lacquer would probably be better. Car body shop could do that for you.
There was a thread on damaging alloy frames from over-heating during powdering last week or so.

The trick with clear powder coat is to give it a thin coat, if you put too much on it will come out of the oven cloudy/yellow-ish in colour.

lol cheers just had my appendix out. They are very generous with the drugs, though im not allowed any more for a bit. Apparently i insisted on a high five from the consultant and accused the surgeon of extracting some of my awesome. I always was a nob when i was high...

IIRC you've got more to worry about from over zelous shot blasting turning the frame into swiss cheese, or at the very least weakening it.
