Sold a frame on eBay, ended up going for a bit more than I was expecting, happy days.

Checked the winning bidders profile after the auction ended and it says they are in the US so I contacted them via eBay to request full address to calculate shipping.

The buyer then tells me they're in Seoul, South Korea and asks if I can ship there, providing an address. The only shipping option I can find is something crazy like £250+, which I send to the buyer who responds saying this is too much and he now wants me to ship to the UK.

My spider senses are tingling! Does anyone else think this could be a potential scam?

Is there anything I can do to protect myself other than shipping via a tracked/signed for service?

I think you need to ship to their confirmed address if you want to be covered. What is their confirmed address?

Global Shipping Program would cover that - as long as you ship to the local centre. Then that would ship to their registered address.

It's possible that it's a US serviceman, currently stationed in South Korea and he'll get it shipped to a US Base in the UK and shipped on from there.

Or it could be a scam.

Ebay can be quick on these things. Report it now and ask them what to do. If they say send it then you have extra cover.

OK, I decided to call their bluff and asked them to make payment. The payment came through and had the UK address listed on both eBay and PayPal.

That means I'll be covered, right?

I’d say your all covered. Just send to the UK address recorded and keep all eBay correspondence in your inbox
