Now I know we're not suppose to praise the big boys and I do heavily support my LBS, however I ordered a new rear mech, shifter and chain from Merlin yesterday at 4:30pm. They've just arrived this morning at 9:30am. It's like the good old days of CRC (although I don't think these bits have come off a 2018 Cannondale/Cube)!
Ive had good experiences with Merlin, but how is it that they can't specify a UK / euro brake configuration, it's just luck of the draw what you get sent? Are they shifting so much product that it's just not worth their time to sort them out in the warehouse?
Not a big deal as they're discount prices and you almost always have to shorten the line anyhow, just seemed odd when I ordered some the other week.
Tredz have just landed me with the same brake issue (bought these for taking kids about the place: https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Shimano-M365-Front-and-Rear-Brakeset_215110.htm). Their solution is that I can take them to a bike shop to be swapped over at my cost - thanks guys! I'll just swap them myself but it's still a pain to have to touch them right away

Where I live, Merlin Cycles IS my LBS! I used to go there 25+ years ago when they were still a small shop in Leyland town centre.
Never had any problems with them since they became much bigger and started doing mail order.
I used to pore over their adverts in MBUK working out what anodised part I could next afford to buy, or what snowflake wheel I would love to own!
I've just had a very positive experience with them.....
Collected a nice new, heavily discounted Marin Nail trail 29er from them last week for my lad. it was a stonking bargain.
Forst ride, on the same evening we picked it up, and it was struggling to stay in bottom gear. On closer inspection, the chain was obviously a couple of links too short. I photographed it and emailed them, again same evening as we picked the bike up.
Next morning, new SRAM 11 speed chain on its way to us FOC....no fuss, no messing about, no argument.
I'm happy - I'll say again - the bike was a bargain as well as service being excellent.
