I have a Giro Atmos and it proper honks. I've washed the pads and showered with it on, but within minutes of using it again it's stinking.
Any good cures?

Stick it in a bucket with some Dettol (works for a while), or new pads as above.

*Don't* stick it in a bucket with bio washing detergent. Stripped all the colour out of mine. The submerged part is now a sort of 'frosted' colour, and the top half is still black.

Bin? How old is it?

You have bugs living in it hence the stink. My guess would be chemicals strong enough to kill the bugs will damage the helmet.

I take mine in the shower with me, give it a scrub down or put the pads in a pillow case and stick them in with the next wash load.

Manufacturer approved method for a motorcycle helmet is to use baby shampoo but it takes a week to dry out. Not a problem with the much lower material bulk of the cycle helmet.

Get some helmet sanitizer from a motorbike shop and spray it in. Works fine on my full face

Shower it and then leave it out in the sunlight upside down. The uv should kill the bugs that are causing the smell.

Don't do what my sis-in-law did to her hubby.

Noticed that the 661 full face was getting a little ripe so she gave it a thorough blast of Fabreze. Next time he is out, pinning it downhill and sweating like Peter Andre on Mastermind, a few beads of said perspiration entered his eyes. Cue optical burning sensation and rider / ground high speed interface.

We all laughed. He didn't.

Dealt with this problem this morning. Good rinse off with warm water. Then clean straps and pads with shampoo, rinse several times, towel dry and leave on washing line to dry. Return for lovely fathers day out take off line and cut grass to finish (grass cutting is optional)
