Kyle Straits just don't seem to last, they don't fall to pieces but seem to turn to sandpaper after a year or so and then they're only confortable for an hour.
How are the POC Joint VPD ones?
Thanks...
I was looking at these too, but decided for over twice the price I'd not notice twice the difference and went with some Nukeproof ones. They are excellent.
Sorry if this is not much assistance to you.
I needed some elbow pads in a hurry before a trip to the Alps this year and paid the price with the POC ones.
To be honest, not impressed. Single velcro attachment which in a medium, wouldn't effectively hold themselves up on my boy arms
I should have paid the premium for SixSixOne in France
Have some and they are fine but not my favourite. Prefer IXS slopestyle as they dont move around on me.

Really? I've had mine for about 3 years now (estimate) and the only reason I'm replacing is because they're now too big for me and slip down all the time. Have just replaced with some Nukeproof ones which seem a bit comfier so far, bit less material round the back of the knee so should hopefully be a bit cooler.
Had POC elbow pads for around 18 months. Single strap is fine as it's the material inside that provides the majority of grip, however this means they won't work so well over clothing (although I don't get folk doing that anyway) and you must get the sizing right.
Sweet Protection are also worth looking at if you want a slightly longer version
thanks, anyone had experience of sweet protection? Looks like they should be decent given they make protection for snow and kayak etc too...
Like curiousyellow said, I've been using the Nukeproof knee and elbow pads, they're brilliant, best pads I've ever used! Very comfy, they don't move about, and they're reasonably priced!
Not that convinced about the soft POC stuff. But the hardshell stuff is fantastic- the Bone elbow pads have no rivals IMO. The most comfortable, least sweaty, least restrictive, least likely to move pads I've tried, and also massively protective to boot.
I found the 661 D3O elbows to be awful in comparison to the POC versions. They simply weren't designed to fit around a bent elbow and would constantly fall down to become forearm protectors. I'd have to pull them up after every run and they never felt like they'd do their job The POC ones have been faultless and I need to adjust them a couple of times a day at worst. Well worth the money.

I'm put off by the fact that you're not meant to machine wash the POC VPD pads...

I think this is the second or third time I have got to this sort thread after Northwind and once again I have agreed 100% with his take on the Bone pads.
An extra point is that they look bulky and heavy but don't actually feel like that once on.

Yep, not getting them then, that's ridiculous!
Can you wash the bone ones?
I chuck mine in a bucket every few months and poke 'em with a stick. I wouldn't buy non-machine-wash kneepads but it's not such an issue with elbows since they get less dirt and sweat.
It is comfy if the size fits you perfectly, and that goes to all knee and elbow pads around (unless its a really cheapy one that cost £9.99).. Those who say its moving are most likely sizing didnt fit them.. Fitting is a bit of personal thats why its best to buy these where you can fit it first..... But worthy? .. I can get the same protection from a troy lee or fox for half the price and that comes from a person who owns POC 2 knee and elbow.
I chuck my POC's in the washing machine on cold wash, no issues only do it when they really stink.
Excellent pads in every respect, dont notice Im wearing them
