Im a keen rider, however, I keep planning to get up early in weekends at the moment to do a 3-4 hour local ride but when when my alarm goes off i end up having a massive lie in then spending the day gutted and feeling lazy.

E.g. I did cwmcarn Saturday morning then planned a local at Mynydd Machen sunday morning....didnt happen. How does everyone stop this from happening? i think im just having a minor demotivated patch.

i find sunshine makes it easier to get motivated, i had planned to go for a ride this morning but woke up legs a little sore from yesterday so knocked it on the head and will just make do with commuting the rest of the week.

What's worse is when someone plans a ride, invites a bunch of people, then doesn't turn up. With no valid excuse.

"I'm in Edinburgh" does not cut it.

get your stuff ready the day before and get an early night so your not tired the next day, you can still get a good ride in 1-2 hrs let a lone 3-4 so dont right it off if you end up procrastinating in the morning

Lay off the ale. For me, it's that simple.

Arrange to go with someone else. Even better if you are the nominated ride leader or driver.

Makes no difference to me!
What you need is a reliable riding buddy, if youv'e arranged a ride with someone else (& you have a concience) you'll be more likely to get your lazy ar$e out of bed! ๐Ÿ˜‰

+1 plan to meet someone. I'll never miss a run if organised with someone else. can't say the same if it's just me.

Sounds like a Bit of SADS perhaps...
Forcing yourself up and out is the toughest part, but it is worth it, once your up and out you'll wonder what the problem was, the more you do it, the easier it gets...

Trust me when you truly can't ride because of kids, work or injury then it puts it in perspective...

I'm not talking about your usual two lager shandies, essel. I'm talking about a skinful - no one enjoys rolling out of the scratcher having tanned the bevvy the night before.

If ye can manage it, though, there's no better hangover cure on earth.

Sometimes there is no simpler answer than simply....get up when the alarm goes off, get in the car (already loaded up) and go riding?

We all lack motivation at times - a boot up the backside is all that's needed...

Ha, my mate often used to stick his fingers down his throat just after the start of a ride cos he felt so bad.
didn't stop him turning out though!
Common sense should prevail.

Put your alarm clock somewhere else in the room that requires you to get out of bed to turn it off
